{"id":201092,"date":"2025-12-31T09:45:05","date_gmt":"2025-12-31T14:45:05","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/thevwindependent.com\/news\/?p=201092"},"modified":"2025-12-31T09:45:07","modified_gmt":"2025-12-31T14:45:07","slug":"highway-patrol-dont-drink-and-drive","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/thevwindependent.com\/news\/2025\/12\/31\/highway-patrol-dont-drink-and-drive\/","title":{"rendered":"Highway Patrol: don&#8217;t drink and drive"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p><em>VW independent staff\/submitted information<\/em><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>COLUMBUS &#8212; As Ohioans ring in the new year, troopers with the Ohio State Highway Patrol will be highly visible and enforcing safe driving across the state.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The New Year\u2019s holiday reporting period runs from Wednesday, December 31 through Sunday, January 4 and during this timeframe, anyone traveling on Ohio\u2019s roads is urged to drive responsibly, designate a sober driver or use a rideshare service.&nbsp; &nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n<div class=\"wp-block-image\">\n<figure class=\"alignright size-full\"><img decoding=\"async\" width=\"150\" height=\"199\" src=\"https:\/\/thevwindependent.com\/news\/wp-content\/uploads\/2018\/07\/OSHP-Logo-e1532741570657.jpg\" alt=\"\" class=\"wp-image-105227\"\/><\/figure>\n<\/div>\n\n\n<p>The 2024-2025 two-day New Year\u2019s holiday reporting period recorded two fatal crashes which killed three people. Of those, one crash and two fatalities involved alcohol and\/or drug use.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>To combat preventable tragedies, the OSHP will be increasing patrols throughout the holiday reporting period. Troopers will be focusing on removing impaired and distracted drivers from the roads, maintaining a zero-tolerance policy on dangerous driving.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u201cMaking sure everyone gets home safely is a shared responsibility,\u201d said Colonel Charles A.
