Cheryl Mongold was the winner with her picture of candy she had made with\u00a0white chocolate shells\u00a0and dark chocolate drizzled over them.<\/p>\n<figure id=\"attachment_20674\" aria-describedby=\"caption-attachment-20674\" style=\"width: 350px\" class=\"wp-caption alignright\"><a href=\"https:\/\/www.thevwindependent.com\/news\/wp-content\/uploads\/2012\/02\/HatterySlide.jpg\"><img decoding=\"async\" class=\"size-full wp-image-20674 \" style=\"border: 1px solid black\" src=\"https:\/\/www.thevwindependent.com\/news\/wp-content\/uploads\/2012\/02\/HatterySlide.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"350\" height=\"256\" \/><\/a><figcaption id=\"caption-attachment-20674\" class=\"wp-caption-text\">Gumball Waterdrops  (Photo by Jodi Hattery)<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<p>Treasurer Karl Gribler reported that the club will offer a discount card again this year, with more than food items on it as in the past.\u00a0Karl said he was getting assistance from Wassenberg Art Center staff members and was optimistic that the card will create more interest this year.<\/p>\n<p>President Doug Heckler announced that the Wassenberg Art Center\u2019s website has been updated and is functioning.\u00a0It is located at\u00a0<a href=\"http:\/\/wassenbergartcenter.org\/\">wassenbergartcenter.org<\/a>. The Wassenberg Camera Club has its own webpage there and Will Hawkins has agreed to help keep the photographic content updated. Heckler also\u00a0stated that Jan Sorensen has informed him that her husband, Bill, is in failing health and has asked for prayer support<\/p>\n<p>He then acknowledged the gift of three cameras from Bob and Sue Gates of Van Wert.\u00a0The oldest was a Kodak Monitor bellows-folding camera made between 1939 and 1948.\u00a0The second\u00a0was a Kodak Signet rangefinder camera built from 1951 to 1958.\u00a0The third was a Honeywell Pentax Spotmatic 35mm SLR built from 1964 till 1967.\u00a0This was the first camera to feature through-the-lens metering.<\/p>\n<p>Heckler then raised the question whether it is time to consider\u00a0replacing the laptop computer due to how slowly it now functions.\u00a0 It was purchased in January 2006 with Van Wert County Foundation funds. He said that over the six years since it was put into<\/p>\n<figure id=\"attachment_20675\" aria-describedby=\"caption-attachment-20675\" style=\"width: 350px\" class=\"wp-caption alignleft\"><a href=\"https:\/\/www.thevwindependent.com\/news\/wp-content\/uploads\/2012\/02\/MongoldSlide2.jpg\"><img decoding=\"async\" class=\"size-full wp-image-20675 \" style=\"border: 1px solid black\" src=\"https:\/\/www.thevwindependent.com\/news\/wp-content\/uploads\/2012\/02\/MongoldSlide2.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"350\" height=\"275\" \/><\/a><figcaption id=\"caption-attachment-20675\" class=\"wp-caption-text\">White Chocolate Drizzle Candy (Photo by Cheryl Mongold)<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<p>service, technology has accelerated the computing process and maybe it&#8217;s time to look into a new model.\u00a0 He asked that members bring suggestions to the next meeting\u00a0concerning the features a new laptop might possess.<\/p>\n<p>Since the January open meeting on photography was so well attended,\u00a0it was decided to\u00a0make the club&#8217;s next meeting on Thursday, February 23, at 7 p.m. also open to the public. Club members will be on hand here at the Wassenberg Art Center to answer questions regarding equipment and technique.
