It includes funds for five projects in Van Wert County (listed below).<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u201cThe projects outlined in this budget will improve our parks, county fairgrounds, and historical sites; upgrade schools and classrooms to support the future workforce, promote safe and independent living for Ohioans with disabilities, continue building the mental healthcare system; and more,\u201d said Governor DeWine of Senate Bill 450.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The capital budget includes a total of $3.7 billion in appropriations.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Capital budget highlights include investments to:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Upgrade Ohio\u2019s higher education classrooms, laboratories, and buildings to improve campus safety and efficiency and support the state\u2019s future workforce.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Support construction and renovation projects to strengthen Ohio\u2019s behavioral health hospitals and for the development of a youth specialty care facility.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Modernize and improve Ohio\u2019s 76 state parks, which are nationally recognized as the best state park system in the country.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Promote safer and more functional residential options for Ohioans with developmental disabilities.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Renovate correctional institutions across the state to ensure inmate and staff safety.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Support construction and renovation projects at more than 50 Ohio historical sites and museums, including the completion of the new Poindexter Village Museum and the reimagined Ohio River Museum.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Enhance Ohio Fire Academy training facilities to provide a safer, more advanced, scenario-based training environment.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Improve local community and regional areas, including parks, trails, historical sites, and county fairgrounds to support recreation and tourism across the state.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p>Locally, Senate Bill 450 includes funds for several projects, including:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>$250,000- Delphos Stadium Park shelter house<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>$40,000- Convoy Opera House foof and annex<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>$400,000- Van Wert County Research and Genealogy Center<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>$100,000- Van Wert Civic Theatre project<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>$250,000- YWCA of Van Wert County Facility and Clinic<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>VW independent staff\/submitted information COLUMBUS &#8212; Ohio\u2019s new capital budget bill, for fiscal years 2027 and 2028, was signed by Governor Mike DeWine on Monday.
