He also said more financial information as it applies to the Lincolnview Local Schools could be available as soon as next week. While the data center will be in the city of Van Wert, it will be in the Lincolnview school district.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u201cWe\u2019ve been waiting very patiently and now we\u2019re getting closer,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Snyder added that while a push to eliminate property taxes in Ohio has been delayed until November of next year, he said if it comes to fruition, he wants to plan for \u201cwhat ifs\u201d pertaining to the data center and its financial obligation to the district.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>He also noted a large scale solar project remains a possibility in Van Wert County. If it happens, Butterfly Meadows would occupy approximately 4,000 acres of land in Hoaglin, Union and Pleasant townships. If ultimately approved at the state level, construction would likely begin in 2028. More information is expected this summer.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Snyder said work is progressing on the new elementary playground, and he said he anticipates action being taken by the board on upgrades to the baseball and softball diamonds at a special meeting later this month. Those improvements will include dugouts, backstops and fencing, at a cost of about $800,000.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<!--more-->\n\n\n\n<p>Brief monthly reports were also delivered by Jr. High\/High School Principal Brad Mendenhall, who noted class schedules will be available for pickup the week of August 10 and at the annual open house, which is  scheduled for 6-7:30 p.m. August 17. He also said he and administrators from Crestview and Van Wert recently met with Van Wert County Juvenile\/Probate Court Judge Eva Yarger and Prosecutor Dillon Staas to discuss attendance concerns and truancy.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u201cThe whole purpose of this conversation was to try to get ahead of things a little bit, to see what both sides can do, how we can work together better to try to help the problem,\u201d Mendenhall explained. \u201cIt was a good meeting and we came away with some ideas on both sides that we\u2019re going to try.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Elementary Principal Nita Meyer said class lists for the upcoming school year are done and will be posted on Final Forms for parents to see toward the end of July.<\/p>\n\n\n<div class=\"wp-block-image\">\n<figure class=\"alignleft size-full\"><img decoding=\"async\" width=\"300\" height=\"295\" src=\"https:\/\/thevwindependent.com\/news\/wp-content\/uploads\/2026\/06\/Jeff-Snyder-6-2026.jpg\" alt=\"\" class=\"wp-image-207080\"\/><figcaption class=\"wp-element-caption\">Superintendent Jeff Snyder delivers his monthly report during Thursday&#8217;s school board meeting. <em>Scott Truxell photo<\/em><\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<\/div>\n\n\n<p>Treasurer Kaitlyn Edelbrock addressed the delay of a possible statewide vote to abolish property taxes and she said the Ohio House and Senate have addressed numerous property tax bills.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Special recognition was given to the high school\u2019s state track qualifiers and coaches, the Division VI state semifinal softball team and NWC champion baseball team. Three of the five state track qualifiers were at the meeting, along with head coach Matt Langdon. Noah Peters qualified for state in the 110 and 300 meter hurdles, while Brynleigh Moody and Joey-Kate Carey were members of the 4&#215;800 team. Two other members of the 4&#215;800 team \u2013 Annabel Horstsman and Brooklyn Byrne were unable to attend the meeting. Langdon noted that Moody qualified for state 11 times in four years \u2013 four times each in cross country and track and three times in indoor track. Moody and Peters plan to compete at the collegiate level, at Slippery Rock and Wittenberg, respectively. Carey is entering her senior year and is a three sport athlete \u2013 volleyball, basketball and trakc.\u00a0<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The board approved the employment of Jennifer McElroy as computer science-media\/library specialist and Anne Myers as an elementary intervention specialist. Carrie Turnwald was hired as the junior high\/high school secretary.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Several supplemental and personal service contracts were approved, including Tonia Verville, newspaper advisor; Karla Bowersock and Natasha Breese, Washington, DC trip co-advisors; Tanner Crowle, assistant boys golf coach; Amelia Welker and Betsy Niese, co-high school cheerleading advisors, and Ava Milligan, assistant high school cross country coach.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Laura Sellers was approved for a two-year classified staff contract and Craig Staley was approved as the district\u2019s hourly bus maintanence man.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Extended service contracts were approved for Jay Hoersten (industrial tech, five days), Katey Lloyd (junior high\/high school guidance counselor, 20 days), and Mike Archinal (instrumental music teacher, 25 days).&nbsp;&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>In other business, the board<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Accepted a donation of $3,902.05 from the Richard L. and Nadie O. Klein Memorial Trust through the Van Wert County Foundation.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Agreed to adopt NIST Cybersecurity as the official framework for the district.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Approved an agreement with Scott Equity to supply gas and diesel fuel.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Approved an agreement with 4-K Tire Inc. to supply tires for buses, school vans, the band truck and other equipment.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Approved Snyder as the district\u2019s representative to the Van Wert Area School Insurance Group.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Approved a memorandum of understanding with the Van Wert County Sheriff\u2019s Office for a school resource officer for the upcoming school year.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Approved 2026-2027 athletic ticket prices, athletic workers and officials pay.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p>At the end of the meeting, the board went into executive session to discuss the employment and compensation of an employee. Outside of adjournment, no other action was taken.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The next meeting of the Lincolnview Local Schools Board of Education will be held at 5 p.m. Monday, June 29, for a pair of retire-rehire hearings and to wrap up business for the end of the fiscal year. The next regular meeting of the board will be held at 6 p.m. Wednesday, July 22.
