The money was given on behalf of the New Initiative Funds which allows organizations that are tax exempt to apply in order to help with a one-time need or project in Van Wert County.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The funds will be used for \u201cCooking at The Goedde\u201d &#8211; a weekly podcast\/youtube video teaching how to cook simple, affordable, and nutritious meals at home through the Middle School Culinary Lab.<\/p>\n\n\n<div class=\"wp-block-image\">\n<figure class=\"aligncenter size-full\"><img fetchpriority=\"high\" decoding=\"async\" width=\"550\" height=\"520\" src=\"https:\/\/thevwindependent.com\/news\/wp-content\/uploads\/2026\/06\/United-Way-donation-6-2026.jpg\" alt=\"\" class=\"wp-image-207178\"\/><figcaption class=\"wp-element-caption\">Pictured above are United Way of Van Wert County Executive Director Ashley Bultemeier, Van Wert School at the Goedde Director Rhonda Cunningham, and Van Wert City Schools Superintendent Mark Bagley. <em>Photo submitted<\/em><\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<\/div>\n\n\n<p>Designed to combine hands-on learning, student voice, and real-world life skills, this program will empower students in grades 6\u20138 to plan, prepare, and demonstrate simple, affordable meals that can be recreated at home, while also developing communication, collaboration, and leadership skills.
