{"id":208461,"date":"2026-08-01T06:12:48","date_gmt":"2026-08-01T11:12:48","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/thevwindependent.com\/news\/?p=208461"},"modified":"2026-08-01T06:12:49","modified_gmt":"2026-08-01T11:12:49","slug":"head-on-accident-claims-two-lives","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/thevwindependent.com\/news\/2026\/08\/01\/head-on-accident-claims-two-lives\/","title":{"rendered":"Head-on accident claims two lives"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p><em>VW independent staff<\/em><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>JACKSON TOWNSHIP &#8212; A Friday evening crash along U.S. 127 near milepost 8 in Paulding County\u2019s Jackson Township left two people dead.<\/p>\n\n\n<div class=\"wp-block-image\">\n<figure class=\"alignright size-full\"><img decoding=\"async\" width=\"150\" height=\"199\" src=\"https:\/\/thevwindependent.com\/news\/wp-content\/uploads\/2018\/07\/OSHP-Logo-e1532741570657.jpg\" alt=\"\" class=\"wp-image-105227\"\/><\/figure>\n<\/div>\n\n\n<p>According to the Van Wert Post of the Ohio State Highway Patrol, the accident occurred just before 6:30 p.m., when a 2020 Chevrolet Traverse driven by Guadalupe Amaro Martinez II, 28, of Paulding, collided head-on with a northbound 2024 Dodge Ram 3500 driven by Judd Charles Spencer, 56, of Cecil.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Troopers said Martinez had crossed the center line. Martinez and a passenger, Guadalupe A. Martinez Jr., 55, of Paulding, were both pronounced dead at the scene. No information was given on Spencer\u2019s injuries or condition.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Speed is suspected to be a factor in the crash, which remains under investigation by the Van Wert Patrol Post.
