{"id":208490,"date":"2026-08-03T09:15:03","date_gmt":"2026-08-03T14:15:03","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/thevwindependent.com\/news\/?p=208490"},"modified":"2026-08-03T09:15:04","modified_gmt":"2026-08-03T14:15:04","slug":"larry-mcomber","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/thevwindependent.com\/news\/2026\/08\/03\/larry-mcomber\/","title":{"rendered":"Larry McOmber"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p>Larry McOmber, 78, of Dalton, Georgia, passed away on Monday, July 27, 2026, at his home.<\/p>\n\n\n<div class=\"wp-block-image\">\n<figure class=\"alignright size-full\"><img fetchpriority=\"high\" decoding=\"async\" width=\"300\" height=\"363\" src=\"https:\/\/thevwindependent.com\/news\/wp-content\/uploads\/2026\/08\/Larry-McOmber-8-2026.jpg\" alt=\"\" class=\"wp-image-208491\"\/><figcaption class=\"wp-element-caption\">Larry McOmber<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<\/div>\n\n\n<p>He was born May 17, 1948, to Dean and Eleanor McOmber.<\/p>\n\n\n<div class=\"wp-block-image\">\n<figure class=\"alignright size-full\"><img decoding=\"async\" width=\"125\" height=\"66\" src=\"https:\/\/thevwindependent.com\/news\/wp-content\/uploads\/2011\/06\/American-Flag-for-obituaries-6-2011.jpg\" alt=\"\" class=\"wp-image-8711\"\/><\/figure>\n<\/div>\n\n\n<p>Larry was a graduate of Crestview High School and the University of Cincinnati.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>He served four years in the United States Army. He was an electrical engineer for Olin Chemicals for many years and later opened a business with a friend, working on fiberglass boats.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>He is survived by his mother, Ellie McOmber; a sister, Karen Bullinger; a brother, Bob (Carolyn) McOmber, and four nieces and nephews.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>He was preceded in death by his father, Dean, and brother-in-law, Randy Bullinger.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>A private funeral service will be held.<\/strong><\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Larry McOmber, 78, of Dalton, Georgia, passed away on Monday, July 27, 2026, at his home.
