{"id":209481,"date":"2026-08-30T20:51:59","date_gmt":"2026-08-31T01:51:59","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/thevwindependent.com\/news\/?p=209481"},"modified":"2026-08-30T20:52:00","modified_gmt":"2026-08-31T01:52:00","slug":"lincolnview-boe-oks-financial-forecast","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/thevwindependent.com\/news\/2026\/08\/30\/lincolnview-boe-oks-financial-forecast\/","title":{"rendered":"Lincolnview BOE OKs financial forecast"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p><strong>SCOTT TRUXELL\/<\/strong><em>independent editor<\/em><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The latest financial forecast was approved by the Lincolnview Local Schools Board of Education at a special meeting held last week.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>However, the forecast, which is required by law, isn\u2019t something that\u2019s done easily or with much confidence due to a number of factors.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>In a written report to the board, Treasurer Kaitlyn Edelbrock noted the district still has not received second half tax collections from the county this year.<\/p>\n\n\n<div class=\"wp-block-image\">\n<figure class=\"alignright size-full\"><img fetchpriority=\"high\" decoding=\"async\" width=\"350\" height=\"406\" src=\"https:\/\/thevwindependent.com\/news\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/09\/Kaitlyn-Edelbrock-9-2025.jpg\" alt=\"\" class=\"wp-image-197259\"\/><figcaption class=\"wp-element-caption\">Treasurer Kaitlyn Edelbrock said the financial forecast is a snapshot in time. <em>VW independent file photo<\/em><\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<\/div>\n\n\n<p>\u201cI have requested informat from the county asking what has been collected but the county is unable to provide this information to use,\u201d she wrote. \u201cWe are currently in a triennial update year for the county.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Edelbrock said she has reviewed many parcels in the district via the Auditor\u2019s website and she said with current estimated values on the website, Van Wert County will be seeing an increase in property values.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u201cWe have not been provided any information on what that means for our tax collection as they do not have the reports needed to provide that information, especially with the implementation of property tax reform bills.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Edelbrock also explained that the uncertainy of state funding makes it challenging to predict finances in future years.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u201cState foundation payments are always volatile with the uncertainty of the structure of the Department of Education as well as the whims of our legislatures,\u201d she wrote. \u201cI have made conservative estimates for these funds. We will operate in three different state budgets during the forecast period and it is impossible to determine what will happen in the next two budget processes.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>In terms of future expenditures, Edelbrock told the board there will be contract negotiations with the district\u2019s unions, the Lincolnview Classified Education Association and the Lincolnview Local Education Association in fiscal years 2027 and 2028.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<!--more-->\n\n\n\n<p>\u201cI used a conservative amount for salary increases based on the fiscal year 2025 negotiations,\u201d she said.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The treasurer also said there is no real way to predict the prices of supplies and purchased services due to the volatile world economy, so she used conservative amounts for those items.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u201cThe financial forecast is a snapshot in time and could change at any time and it will be updated throughout the year when more information becomes available,\u201d Treasurer Kaitlyn Edelbrock said in a written report to the board. \u201cCurrently, we are still in a good financial position.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The board approved the financial forecast and one other item that was on the special agenda \u2013 a one-year fleet, liability and property insurance agreement with Stolly Insurance Group.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>SCOTT TRUXELL\/independent editor The latest financial forecast was approved by the Lincolnview Local Schools Board of Education at a special meeting held last week.
