{"id":210103,"date":"2026-09-15T20:29:19","date_gmt":"2026-09-16T01:29:19","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/thevwindependent.com\/news\/?p=210103"},"modified":"2026-09-15T20:29:20","modified_gmt":"2026-09-16T01:29:20","slug":"local-hospital-welcomes-new-surgeon","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/thevwindependent.com\/news\/2026\/09\/15\/local-hospital-welcomes-new-surgeon\/","title":{"rendered":"Local hospital welcomes new surgeon"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p><em>VW independent staff\/submitted information<\/em><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>A new general surgeon has signed on at OhioHealth Van Wert Hospital.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>According to a statement from the hospital, Roberto Bustos, MD, brings expertise in minimally invasive and robotic surgery to patients in the region.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Originally from Argentina, Dr. Bustos developed an interest in rural surgery through his early experiences providing care abroad, where he saw the impact accessible, high-quality surgical services can have on patients and families.<\/p>\n\n\n<div class=\"wp-block-image\">\n<figure class=\"alignright size-full\"><img decoding=\"async\" width=\"200\" height=\"228\" src=\"https:\/\/thevwindependent.com\/news\/wp-content\/uploads\/2026\/09\/Bustos_Print.jpg\" alt=\"\" class=\"wp-image-210105\"\/><figcaption class=\"wp-element-caption\">Dr. Roberto Bustos<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<\/div>\n\n\n<p>\u201cVan Wert Hospital gives me the unique opportunity to continue that path in combination with advanced surgical technologies that aren\u2019t widely available elsewhere,\u201d Dr. Bustos said. \u201cI am committed to providing patients with exceptional care while allowing them to remain close to their homes, their support systems and their communities.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Inspired by his father and sister, who are both general surgeons, Dr. Bustos said he was drawn to a career that combines medicine, technology and hands-on skill.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u201cWatching their commitment and compassion shaped my own path, inspiring me to pursue surgery with the same sense of purpose,\u201d Dr. Bustos said. \u201cServing patients has become the greatest source of fulfillment for me, and it\u2019s a responsibility I carry with pride every day.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Dr. Bustos earned his medical degree from Universidad Nacional de Cuyo in Argentina.
