The Wassenberg Camera Club met Thursday, February 23, at the Wassenberg Art Center.\u00a0Time was devoted to what features a new club laptop should possess.\u00a0President Heckler received quite a bit of input and the discussion will be continued at the next meeting.<\/p>\n

Retired, acting treasurer, Karl Gribler reported that the club’s Discount Cards will be ready for distribution at the next meeting. He passed around sample cards that are very attractive.\u00a0He also passed out flyers to be placed around town toinform the people of Van Wert of what the card offers and who to contact\u00a0to purchase one.<\/p>\n

Vice president Will Hawkins displayed additional photography equipment donated by Bob and Sue\u00a0Gates\u00a0of Van Wert.\u00a0One camera was a Nikon FM2\/T model with a zoom lens.\u00a0The camera was built between 1994 and 1997 only and featured\u00a0titanium construction. (thus the T) Titanium is a lightweight metal, is almost as strong as steel, and its corrosive resistance is greater than that of stainless steel. Due to the use of titanium and the short production run, this model has become a collector’s item.<\/p>\n

The second camera is a Nikon FE2, also with a zoom lens.\u00a0 The FE2 was built from 1983-89.\u00a0When it was\u00a0first released,\u00a0it claimed the world’s fastest shutter sync speed\u00a0at 1\/200th of a second.\u00a0Additional equipment included a 50mm Nikor lens, a Vivitar 152 flash unit, and a CF-27 Nikon camera case. We aregrateful to the Gates family for their donations of equipment.<\/p>\n

The club welcomed visitors Susan Gates and Joe Sheldon to the meeting.<\/p>\n

The club’s next meeting will be held on Thursday, March 8, at 7 p.m. at the Wassenberg Art Center, Doors\/Windows will be the competition theme that evening.<\/p>\n
