{"id":21895,"date":"2012-03-14T03:18:48","date_gmt":"2012-03-14T08:18:48","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/thevwindependent.com\/?p=21895"},"modified":"2012-03-14T03:18:48","modified_gmt":"2012-03-14T08:18:48","slug":"clifford-and-all-that-jazz","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/thevwindependent.com\/news\/2012\/03\/14\/clifford-and-all-that-jazz\/","title":{"rendered":"Clifford &#8212; and all that jazz!"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Another big weekend awaits us at the Niswonger Performing Arts Center in Van Wert.\u00a0 It\u2019s big in a number of ways.\u00a0 First of all, it\u2019s big because there are two concerts; one Saturday night and the other Sunday afternoon.\u00a0 Secondly, it\u2019s big because a Big Red Dog named Clifford is coming to our stage on Sunday.<\/p>\n<p>In what just might be the \u201csleeper\u201d of the season, Clifford, The Big Red Dog is nearly sold out for Sunday\u2019s 2 p.m. matinee.\u00a0As I write, there are about 25 seats spread throughout the house that are open.\u00a0 A few $10 seats still remain, so you might still be able to make your child or grandchild happy for an affordable amount.\u00a0It has to be the \u201chottest\u201d kids show in the area!\u00a0 We expect a full house of excited children and parents for this live stage production starring the adorable Clifford.<\/p>\n<p>You know, seeing a child excited about watching one of their TV heroes live is as exciting to an adult as it is the child.\u00a0It\u2019s a lot like Christmas.\u00a0It really is more exciting and gratifying to give than to receive.\u00a0 Call the box office (419.238.6722) or go online (<a href=\"http:\/\/www.npacvw.org\/\">www.npacvw.org<\/a>) to reserve one of the last few available tickets.<\/p>\n<p>We precede Clifford with a more adult-like jazz concert featuring two outstanding jazz pianists\/keyboardists: David Benoit and Brian Culbertson.\u00a0 Even this show has a bit of kid flavor to it, though, as Benoit is known for his piano adaptations for \u201cPeanuts\u201d TV shows. \u00a0If you think about it, often in the background of the \u201cPeanuts\u201d shows is some really \u201ccool\u201d jazz piano.\u00a0 If you come to Saturday night\u2019s concert featuring these two pianists, you will find that David Benoit is much, much more than a Charlie Brown pianist.\u00a0 His performances are renowned!<\/p>\n<p>He will be joined on stage by one of Smooth Jazz\u2019s most popular artists, Brian Culbertson.\u00a0 Brian makes a triumphal return to the NPAC, as he has performed to very exciting crowds in the past.<\/p>\n<p>The stage will be set with two grand pianos.<\/p>\n<p>It should be a magical and fun evening as these two artists will make these pianos sit up and talk.\u00a0 An exciting evening of piano and jazz for sure!\u00a0 Some good seats remain available for this 7:30 p.m. concert this Saturday.\u00a0 So, take your choice or better yet, we\u2019ll see you at both concerts this weekend.<\/p>\n<p>I am just about ready to announce the Fountain Park Summer Music Series.\u00a0I\u2019m just waiting on confirmation on my final concert and then the announcement will be made.
