I am really looking forward to this Saturday\u2019s version of Community Concerts at the Niswonger Performing Arts Center.\u00a0It features a comedic musical show by the Capitol Steps.\u00a0I know many of you know of them because I have heard rave reviews from some of you who have heard and seen them.<\/p>\n
The Capitol Steps actually began in 1981 when a group of workers on Capitol Hill met at a Christmas party for former Senator Charles Percy.\u00a0 It seems that even our politicians can laugh at themselves, even if it\u2019s behind closed doors.\u00a0 With Capitol Steps, the doors will be open and we can all laugh at some of the \u201cinsanity\u201d of our American politics.<\/p>\n
Just to give you a little flavor of what you might experience this Saturday at the NPAC, the program states that the material is constantly changing, based on the scandal of the day!\u00a0 But you might see a few of these \u2026 \u201cLiberal Shop of Horrors\u201d, \u201cSecret Kenyan Man\u201d, \u201cBattle Hymn of the Tea Party\u201d,\u00a0 \u201cWhat Kind of Fuel Am I?\u201d and many, many more.<\/p>\n
It\u2019s actually a little sad that they have so much material to work with, but I guess laughing at our American politicians has gone on for a long time.\u00a0 So, since it\u2019s a reality, we might as well get a laugh out of it.\u00a0 And like I said, behind closed doors, they often laugh at themselves.\u00a0 What else can you do, sometimes?<\/p>\n
There are some tickets remaining for this Community Concert, although they are selling fast this week.\u00a0 We have groups coming from Fort Wayne, Toledo and other parts of the region.\u00a0 Capitol Steps are in big demand as entertainment for conferences throughout the U.S.\u00a0 Call the box office (419.238.NPAC 1743) or take a chance at the door Saturday night.\u00a0The program starts at 7:30 p.m.<\/p>\n
Although we are busy putting the final touches on next year\u2019s big Fifth Year Anniversary Season at the NPAC, I am also very excited to announce the 2012 Fountain Park Summer Music Series real soon.\u00a0 I hope to do this within the week.\u00a0You are going to really enjoy the fun concerts in the park this summer.\u00a0 In case you are wondering, the series will have concerts most Friday nights, starting at 7 p.m. beginning June 1 through August 10.\u00a0 The only Fridays without a concert are June 22, July 6 and August 3.\u00a0Those would make great travel weekends for you.<\/p>\n
