{"id":22290,"date":"2012-03-23T04:44:52","date_gmt":"2012-03-23T09:44:52","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/thevwindependent.com\/?p=22290"},"modified":"2012-03-23T05:34:50","modified_gmt":"2012-03-23T10:34:50","slug":"latta-votes-to-repeal-fed-health-care-law","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/thevwindependent.com\/news\/2012\/03\/23\/latta-votes-to-repeal-fed-health-care-law\/","title":{"rendered":"Latta votes to repeal health care board"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>WASHINGTON, D.C. \u2013 On the eve of the two-year anniversary of the Patient Protection and Affordable Care Act (PPACA), U.S. Representative Bob Latta (R-Bowling Green) voted to protect Medicare recipients by repealing the President\u2019s Independent Payment Advisory Board (IPAB).<\/p>\n<p>The House of Representatives passed the Protecting Access to Healthcare Act (PATH), H.R. 5, which ends IPAB under the President\u2019s health care overhaul law &#8212; a board of unelected bureaucrats charged with Medicare payment decisions.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cIPAB must be repealed, as this board will have extremely negative consequences on American families health care,\u201d said Latta. \u201cThis board of unelected members will be making decisions for tens of thousands of Medicare patients.\u00a0 The power to control the purse strings will give enormous power to control what type of care a patient receives.
