Ivan and Wilda (Knox) Nelson. On February 8, 1948, she married Lowell E. Nelson, who survives.<\/p>\n<p>She is also survived by three sons, Douglas (Cathy) Nelson of Springfield, Ore., James (Jenny) Nelson of Van Wert and Stephen (Beth) Nelson of Findlay; a daughter, Christine (Dan Carter) Nelson of Portland, Ore.; five sisters, Eileen (Robert) Frescoln of Mountain Grove, Mo., Patricia (David) Lenker of Winner, S.D., Helen Stone of Berthoud, Colo., Janet (Charles) Warner of Grant City, Mo., and Shirley (Ronald) McGuire of Kansas, Okla.; nine grandchildren; and five great-grandchildren.<\/p>\n<p>A son, David Nelson; one brother-in-law, Robert Stone, also preceded her in death.<\/p>\n<p>Vera was a loving and faithful wife and mother. She was a homemaker and a member of St. Mark\u2019s United Methodist Church in Findlay. Over the years, Vera shared and was extremely active in her husband\u2019s ministry with the United Methodist Church, where she enjoyed being an adult Sunday School teacher. She thoroughly enjoyed gardening and served on the Garden Committee at Brookstone, where she lived.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Funeral services will be conducted at 11 a.m. Friday, April 27, at St. Mark\u2019s United Methodist Church in Findlay, with Pastor Mark Hollinger officiating. Burial will follow in Maple Grove Cemetery in Findlay.<\/strong><\/p>\n<p><strong>Calling hours are from 2-4 and 6-8 p.m. Thursday, April 26, at Coldren-Crates Funeral Home in Findlay, and an hour prior to services Friday at the church.<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Preferred memorials: St. Mark\u2019s United Methodist Church or a charity of donor\u2019s choice.<\/p>\n<p>Messages of condolence may be sent to <a href=\"http:\/\/www.coldrencrates.com\">www.coldrencrates.com<\/a>.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Vera Mae Nelson, 82, of Findlay, died at 1:05 a.m. Monday, April 23, 2012, at the Bridge Hospice Care Center in Findlay.
