{"id":23813,"date":"2012-04-30T02:21:20","date_gmt":"2012-04-30T07:21:20","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/thevwindependent.com\/?p=23813"},"modified":"2012-04-30T03:22:00","modified_gmt":"2012-04-30T08:22:00","slug":"relay-for-life-torch-walk-this-friday","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/thevwindependent.com\/news\/2012\/04\/30\/relay-for-life-torch-walk-this-friday\/","title":{"rendered":"Relay for Life Torch Walk this Friday"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><em>American Cancer Society information<\/em><\/p>\n<p>This year\u2019s Relay For Life Torch Walk will start at the YWCA at 5 p.m. on Friday, May 4, to kick off the Van Wert County Relay For Life event held at the county fairgrounds.\u00a0 The survivor lap will be at 6 p.m., followed by the caregiver lap.\u00a0The reception will take place immediately afterwards at the north end of the commercial building.\u00a0 All survivors and caregivers are invited to attend.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/www.thevwindependent.com\/news\/wp-content\/uploads\/2011\/11\/RelayForLife_logo_140.gif\"><img decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignright size-full wp-image-16090\" src=\"https:\/\/www.thevwindependent.com\/news\/wp-content\/uploads\/2011\/11\/RelayForLife_logo_140.gif\" alt=\"\" width=\"140\" height=\"132\" \/><\/a>\u201cPopper,\u201d the Relay For Life mini-horse will be walking in the torch walk from the YW to the fairgrounds, as will his sidekick,\u00a0\u201cDiamond\u201d the donkey. Popper will be wearing a survivor shirt and sporting a\u00a0braided tail, while Diamond\u00a0will be toting Relay buckets on his side to accept donations along the way for those wishing to donate.\u00a0In 2011, Popper collected $100 for the American Cancer Society fundraiser.<\/p>\n<p>The very impressive luminary service will commence at 10 on Friday night.
