{"id":23955,"date":"2012-05-03T05:19:50","date_gmt":"2012-05-03T10:19:50","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/thevwindependent.com\/?p=23955"},"modified":"2012-05-03T05:19:50","modified_gmt":"2012-05-03T10:19:50","slug":"cvb-plans-5th-annual-5k-runwalk","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/thevwindependent.com\/news\/2012\/05\/03\/cvb-plans-5th-annual-5k-runwalk\/","title":{"rendered":"CVB plans 5th annual 5K run\/walk"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><em>Convention &amp; Visitors Bureau information<\/em><\/p>\n<p>The Van Wert Area Convention and Visitors Bureau and its partners, the Van Wert City Parks Department and the Van Wert Area YMCA, are excited to announce plans for the fifth annual Van Wert City Run to be held Saturday, June 2, at Smiley Park.<\/p>\n<p>The 5K Run will start at 8 a.m. and runners will follow a course laid out through the neighborhood surrounding Smiley Park.\u00a0\u00a0 This year runners will be provided with electronic shoe tabs for precise timing.\u00a0 Awards will be presented to the top three runners in each age group (14 and under, 15-19, 20-24, 25-29, 30-34, 35-39, 40-44, 45-49, 50-54, 55-59, and 60 and over).\u00a0 Unique awards will be given to the top three male and top three female finishers.\u00a0 Advanced registration is taking place now through May 18<sup>th<\/sup>.\u00a0 Advanced registration is $20 and will include a sport towel.\u00a0 Same day registration fee is $25. \u00a0Some sport towels and tech shirts will be available for sale the day of the run.<\/p>\n<p>At 8:45 a.m., a 2K Family Walk\/Run will step off from Smiley Park. Thrivent Financial for Lutherans is sponsoring this walk\/run.\u00a0 Registration for the walk will be $1, payable at the event.\u00a0 Thrivent Financial has designated proceeds from the walk to Honor Flight Northwest Ohio.\u00a0 Honor Flight Northwest Ohio is a 501(c)(3) non-profit organization formed in 2007 to send the veterans of Northwest Ohio to Washington, DC to see the memorials built to honor their service. To date, 859 veterans have safely flown on 22 flights to see their memorials.<\/p>\n<p>Registration forms are available for pickup at the Convention and Visitors Bureau office located at 136 E.
