{"id":24117,"date":"2012-05-08T04:52:31","date_gmt":"2012-05-08T09:52:31","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/thevwindependent.com\/?p=24117"},"modified":"2012-05-08T04:52:31","modified_gmt":"2012-05-08T09:52:31","slug":"optimist-contest-winners","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/thevwindependent.com\/news\/2012\/05\/08\/optimist-contest-winners\/","title":{"rendered":"Optimist contest winners"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><a href=\"https:\/\/www.thevwindependent.com\/news\/wp-content\/uploads\/2012\/05\/Optimist-Essay-Contest-winners-5-2012.jpg\"><img fetchpriority=\"high\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone size-full wp-image-24118\" style=\"border: 1px solid black\" src=\"https:\/\/www.thevwindependent.com\/news\/wp-content\/uploads\/2012\/05\/Optimist-Essay-Contest-winners-5-2012.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"545\" height=\"369\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p><strong>The Van Wert Optimist Club judged students in its essay contest based on the topic \u201cHow my Positive Outlook Benefits my Community.\u201d\u00a0 Three area students were honored during the March 8\u00a0Optimist Club meeting while presenting their essays.\u00a0 Layne Callow, a senior at Crestview High School, won first place and was awarded a $200 check and gold medallion.\u00a0In addition, her winning essay was submitted to the district level to be judged.\u00a0 Katelyn Etter, a student from Van Wert High School, finished in second place and was awarded a $100 check and silver medallion.\u00a0 Third place was awarded to Nikolas Wolford, also from Van Wert High School, who received a $50 check and a bronze medallion.
