The Lincolnview Local Board of Education honored three retiring teachers, approved a final five-year forecast, and learned that bids are being sought for new carpet and paint in several elementary classrooms during its May meeting held Tuesday evening.<\/p>\n

Superintendent Doug Fries and the board noted that retiring teachers Marilyn Donor, Jeri Lipp and Barb Wolfrum had a total of 104 years of service, much of it in the Lincolnview district.<\/p>\n

\u201cWe sincerely appreciate their dedication to the students, community and longevity with us,\u201d Fries said, adding, \u201cWe wish you well in your retirement and hope you can do all the things you have been waiting to do.\u201d<\/p>\n

Treasurer Troy Bowersock noted that budget figures were on track 10 months into the current fiscal year. Bowersock noted that revenues were within 5 percent of estimates, while expenditures were even closer, within half a percent, with revenues higher than expenditures at this time. The treasurer also noted that the district received approximately more than $34,000 in energy efficiency rebates from AEP.<\/p>\n

Also Tuesday, Fries noted that quotes are being sought to replace carpet and repaint the first- and second-grade classrooms in the elementary building.<\/p>\n

Personnel action taken Tuesday included the hiring of Craig Staley was hourly bus maintenance worker, Sharon Brincefield and Lucy Rice on an as-needed basis for summer bus cleaning and maintenance for this summer, Rebecca Matthews as a bus driver and Shawn Fickert as a cook. The board also accepted Brincefield and Fickert\u2019s resignations as dishroom employees.<\/p>\n

On the teaching side, the board granted supplemental contracts to Chad Kraner, Patti Cox and Ellen Hemple as elementary\/junior high summer school teachers and to Elementary Principal Gordon Stemen as elementary\/junior high summer school supervisor. Paula Johnson and Adam Owens were also given one-year Ohio Graduation Test intervention contracts for this summer. Intervention will take place June 18-22.<\/p>\n

Stemen and Roger Salisbury were also approved for extra-duty contracts related to the Title I program.<\/p>\n

Stemen also noted during his report that he expects between 64 and 68 kindergarten students in the coming year, with 61 students already enrolled.<\/p>\n

Junior High\/High School Principal Kelly Dye reported on a number of items, including high school graduation, which will be held at 1:30 p.m. Sunday, May 27, in the high school gymnasium. The high school awards program will be held May 18, while junior high awards will be presented on May 21.<\/p>\n

  • Authorized the return of $1,800 from the Data Communications Fund back to the General Fund.<\/li>\n
  • Transferred $119,176.01 in facilities project fund interest earnings to the Permanent Improvement Fund.<\/li>\n
  • Approved membership in the Ohio High School Athletic Association.<\/li>\n
  • Accepted, with thanks, a donation of $300 from the Etzler Family Scholarship Fund for a student scholarship in an agriculture-related field.<\/li>\n
  • Authorized a girls\u2019 basketball camp for June 4-7, from 12:30-3:30 p.m. each day for girls in grades 3-9.<\/li>\n
  • Authorized the girls\u2019 basketball team to take an overnight trip to a team camp at Wilmington College on July 9-10, to the Liberty-Benton Shoot-Out on June 9.<\/li>\n
  • Retroactively approved an overnight trip by FFA students to the state FFA convention in Columbus.<\/li>\n
  • Approved the Marsh School calendar for 2012-2013.<\/li>\n
  • Approved a Body Mass Index waiver affidavit.<\/li>\n
  • Granted advancement to the master\u2019s degree pay scale for Jennifer Slusher and advancement to the master\u2019s plus 15 hours pay scale for Kimberly Evans.<\/li>\n
  • Authorized a trip for the cross country team to attend a camp at Hocking Hills on August 5-10.<\/li>\n
  • Approved a girls\u2019 volleyball camp on June 18-21 in the high school gym from 5-8 p.m. each day for grades 3-12.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n
