With surrounding schools beginning their summer break, many Crestview students are eagerly yearning to start theirs.\u00a0 Seniors, especially, have been hard at work to finish up all of their remaining projects and assignments. Exams are approaching the seniors quickly as their last day of school is May 29.\u00a0 Senior Leigha Taylor said, \u201cAs we struggle to tie up loose ends, each one of us fights procrastination, ongoing sporting events, and the beautiful spring weather.\u00a0 I have a thousand things running through my mind and my excitement increases each day that I draw closer to graduating.\u00a0 The biggest step in my life is about to come; although I\u2019m excited, I\u2019m nervous to see what my future holds.\u201d<\/p>\n

On May 25, Crestview student council will host its third annual Mini Relay for Life. The Mini Relay for Life is a fundraiser to help and support cancer victims.\u00a0 To help raise funds, student council had a hat day and a holey jeans day for the students earlier in the week. Students paid $1 each day to participate.\u00a0 Students will also participate by creating teams and walking laps around the track.\u00a0 Students each paid $5 for the event.\u00a0 There will be contests for the most laps walked and most creative team outfits.\u00a0 Walking begins at 1:30 p.m. and community members are encouraged to come out and walk.\u00a0 Donations will be gratefully accepted. \u00a0Our goal this year is to raise $4,000 to help those in need.\u00a0 Everyone is invited to come out and support the great cause!<\/p>\n

Last Friday afternoon the students of Crestview enjoyed their second annual talent show. Interested students auditioned for Mrs. Hancock prior to the event.\u00a0 Acts included Jasmine Coleman, Kali Coleman & Elaina Whinover; Shelby Minnich; Layne & Grace Callow; Julia Harner; Christine Errett; Kevin Cook, Alex Brown & Quintin Bouillon; Dani & Kirstin Hicks; Bella Chorvas; and The Jones Band.\u00a0\u00a0 Junior Kevin Cook said, \u201cIt was a lot of fun being able to perform in front of our peers. Everyone who participated did a great job and it was all very entertaining to watch.\u00a0 I\u2019m excited to get to perform in next year\u2019s show.\u201d<\/p>\n

Although the year is quickly coming to a close, the Crestview girls\u2019 softball team is still going strong. With a reputation of making long tournament runs throughout the past, the girls hope to continue their streak.\u00a0 With a 3-2 win against Parkway to seize their eighth consecutive district title, the girls will travel to Findlay tonight to take on Ayersville in the regional semi-final game.\u00a0 Their record now stands at 24-4 overall. Good luck to the Lady Knights!<\/p>\n

Also continuing on the post-season trail are a number of track athletes. Layne Callow, Erika Frey, Mycah Grandstaff, Nick Cunningham, Trevor Roop, Malcolm Oliver, Avery Jones, Trevor Saylor and Zach Jellison all participated in the regional meet yesterday afternoon in Troy.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
