More than 450 kids showed up at the YMCA Camp Clay on Tuesday, June 19 for Elks Day at Camp Clay. This free day at Camp Clay was provided by Van Wert Lodge 1197, Benevolent and Protective Order of Elks.<\/p>\n<figure id=\"attachment_25824\" aria-describedby=\"caption-attachment-25824\" style=\"width: 320px\" class=\"wp-caption alignright\"><a href=\"https:\/\/www.thevwindependent.com\/news\/wp-content\/uploads\/2012\/06\/Elks-Day-at-Camp-Clay-6-2012.jpg\"><img fetchpriority=\"high\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"size-full wp-image-25824 \" style=\"border: 1px solid black\" src=\"https:\/\/www.thevwindependent.com\/news\/wp-content\/uploads\/2012\/06\/Elks-Day-at-Camp-Clay-6-2012.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"320\" height=\"188\" \/><\/a><figcaption id=\"caption-attachment-25824\" class=\"wp-caption-text\">Lots of kids came out to have fun during Elks Day at Camp Clay this past weekend. (Elks photo)<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<p>The participants enjoyed swimming, wall climbing, paddleboats, kayaking, canoeing, the nature trail &#8212; and especially the aqua park &#8212; from noon until 4 pm. The Elks also provided a free lunch to everyone who attended.<\/p>\n<p>Van Wert Elks Lodge was able to provide this through a Gratitude Grant it received from the Elks National Foundation<\/p>\n<p>\u201cWe were extremely pleased with the turn out since this was our first time at providing this type of entertainment for the youth,\u201d said Mike Stanley, Elks lodge chairman of the event.<\/p>\n<p>Van Wert Lodge looks forward to being able to provide another day at Camp Clay in 2013.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>VW Elks information The sun was hot and the water was inviting.
