{"id":26047,"date":"2012-06-30T01:49:27","date_gmt":"2012-06-30T06:49:27","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/thevwindependent.com\/?p=26047"},"modified":"2012-06-30T01:49:27","modified_gmt":"2012-06-30T06:49:27","slug":"odot-to-use-inmates-for-litter-removal","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/thevwindependent.com\/news\/2012\/06\/30\/odot-to-use-inmates-for-litter-removal\/","title":{"rendered":"ODOT to use inmates for litter removal"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>COLUMBUS &#8212; With the Ohio Department of Transportation (ODOT) spending nearly $4 million and 206,221 man hours annually to remove litter along Ohio\u2019s highways, a new joint program with the Ohio Department of Rehabilitation and Correction (DRC) will utilize local inmates from state-owned prisons to pick-up litter and save money.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cLitter is a totally preventable problem that wastes tax payer\u2019s dollars.
