ROCKY McVAIGH\/<\/strong>for the Van Wert independent<\/em><\/p>\n

On June 25, the Marlins hosted the Bluffton Sardines at the Van Wert YMCA. The Marlins eked out their first win of the season.\u00a0 Scoring first place finishes in all of their individual events were: Katie McVaigh with three; Daniel Miller with four; Bethany Fast with four; Trey Stemen with four and Sam Easley with Three.\u00a0 Also taking at least one first place were: Tyra McClain (2), Annelies Marecic (1), Kayla Krites (1), Bobby Spath (1), Luke Miller (1), Emma Pollock (2), Risa Pollock (3), Alek Bowersock (2), Aaron Stant (3),Anna Henkaline (2) and Brendan Marecic (2).<\/p>\n

On June 28, Van Wert traveled to Lima to take on the Sherwood Swim Club. Taking first place in all of their individual events were Katie McVaigh, with five; and Sam Easley, also with five.\u00a0 Other swimmers earning first place finishes were: Gracie Mull (2), Daniel Miller (2), Evan Bowersock (1), Aaron Stant (1), Alek Bowersock (2), Bethany Fast (2) and Brendan Marecic (1).<\/p>\n

The Marlins last home meet against Lima Shawnee was canceled due to the power outage. The Marlins will be swimming at the WOAL Championships at Bluffton Swim Club on July 13-14. Van Wert will be sending 40 swimmers to compete in the two-day event.<\/p>\n
