{"id":26545,"date":"2012-07-13T06:02:20","date_gmt":"2012-07-13T11:02:20","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/thevwindependent.com\/?p=26545"},"modified":"2012-07-13T06:02:20","modified_gmt":"2012-07-13T11:02:20","slug":"ymca-now-offers-after-hours-access-area","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/thevwindependent.com\/news\/2012\/07\/13\/ymca-now-offers-after-hours-access-area\/","title":{"rendered":"YMCA now offers after-hours access area"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><em>Submitted information<\/em><\/p>\n<p>The YMCA of Van Wert County is now available to all qualifying members 24 hours a day, including weekends and holidays.\u00a0 The Y recently opened its Senior\/Handicap\/After-Hours Access Area, which allows for easy entrance for seniors and physically disabled patrons, as well as provides unlimited access to qualifying members in certain areas of the Y 24\/7.<\/p>\n<p>The new area includes new men\u2019s and women\u2019s ADA approved bathroom facilities, 1,400 square feet of circuit and cardio fitness equipment, 1,100 square feet of machine and free weights and nearly 10,000 square feet of gym space.<\/p>\n<figure id=\"attachment_26546\" aria-describedby=\"caption-attachment-26546\" style=\"width: 330px\" class=\"wp-caption alignright\"><a href=\"https:\/\/thevwindependent.com\/news\/wp-content\/uploads\/2012\/07\/YMCA-After-Hours-Access-ribboncutting-7-2012.jpg\"><img fetchpriority=\"high\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"size-full wp-image-26546 \" style=\"border: 1px solid black\" src=\"https:\/\/thevwindependent.com\/news\/wp-content\/uploads\/2012\/07\/YMCA-After-Hours-Access-ribboncutting-7-2012.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"330\" height=\"247\" \/><\/a><figcaption id=\"caption-attachment-26546\" class=\"wp-caption-text\">YMCA Executive Director Hugh Kocab cuts the ribbon to officially open the YM&#039;s new After-Hours Access Area. (photo submitted)<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<p>The YMCA has been in Van Wert for over 95 years and has continued to adjust to the needs of the membership and the community. What started as a very simple swim and gym YMCA has grown to include five gymnasiums, numerous workout rooms, a spinning studio\/X-tra fit gym, a cardio fitness floor, weight rooms, massage therapy, new tanning salon and hydro massage therapy bed, a yoga room, the only full size swimming pool in the area, and the complete Camp Clay facility including an Aqua Park.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cAlthough we have been in the planning\/implementation and completion stages of this project for nearly two years, we are very excited to expand our programming to all in Van Wert County,\u201d said YMCA Executive Director Hugh Kocab about the new After-Hours area. \u201cThe new Handicap\/Senior\/After-hours Access will allow us to provide additional family fitness opportunities and remove obstacles for those with physical limitations.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Dr. Shad Foster, YMCA board president, added: \u201cexpanding our access and hours will allow us to reach all in our community, as the premier fitness and sports facility in the area.\u00a0 We are committed to helping everyone archive their sport and fitness goals.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Information about this and other programs available at the Van Wert YMCA can be found by calling 419.238.0443 or visiting <a href=\"http:\/\/www.vwymca.org\">www.vwymca.org<\/a>.
