David Evans, 72, loving and caring husband, father and grandfather, died at 3:35 a.m. Wednesday, August 8, 2012, at the Van Wert Area Inpatient Hospice Center.<\/p>\n<figure id=\"attachment_27511\" aria-describedby=\"caption-attachment-27511\" style=\"width: 250px\" class=\"wp-caption alignright\"><a href=\"https:\/\/thevwindependent.com\/news\/wp-content\/uploads\/2012\/08\/J.-David-Evans-obit-photo-8-2012.jpg\"><img fetchpriority=\"high\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"size-full wp-image-27511 \" style=\"border: 1px solid black\" src=\"https:\/\/thevwindependent.com\/news\/wp-content\/uploads\/2012\/08\/J.-David-Evans-obit-photo-8-2012.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"250\" height=\"417\" \/><\/a><figcaption id=\"caption-attachment-27511\" class=\"wp-caption-text\">J. David Evans<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<p>He was born June 12, 1940, in Van Wert, the son of the late Raymond and Irene (Brown) Evans. He married Barbara (Otte) Evans, who survives in Van Wert.<\/p>\n<p>Mr. Evans retired from American Ready Mix in Van Wert after 40 years of service. He was a part-time Van Wert County Engineering Department truck driver at the time of his death.<\/p>\n<p>He was a member of St. Mary of the Assumption Catholic Church in Van Wert, the Sons of the American Legion in Van Wert, the Middle Point Lions Club, and Van Wert Horseshoe Club. Dave loved camping and playing cards with his family and friends.<\/p>\n<p>In addition to his wife, survivors include three children, David (Beth) Evans, Bob (Kim) Evans and Lisa (Gary) Giessler, all of Van Wert; two brothers, Wilbur (Judy) Evans of Delphos and Robert (Margaret) Evans of Van Wert; a sister, Carlene Gerdeman of Delphos; nine grandchildren, Tera (Rob) Huffman, Thomas (JaNahn) Evans, Seth (Abbie) Evans, Lauren Evans, Michael (Jordy) Evans, Matt Evans, Mark Evans, Dan Giessler and Jesse Giessler; and five great-grandchildren.<\/p>\n<p>A brother, Larry Evans; and one sister, Margaret Kramer, also preceded him in death.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Funeral services will be conducted at 12:30 p.m. Saturday, August 11, at St. Mary of the Assumption Catholic Church in Van Wert, with Father Stan Szybka officiating. Burial will be in Ridge Cemetery in rural Van Wert County.<\/strong><\/p>\n<p><strong>Calling hours are from 2-8 p.m. Friday, August 10, at Alspach-Gearhart Funeral Home &amp; Crematory in Van Wert, where a vigil service will be held at 7:45 that evening.<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Preferred memorials: St. Mary of the Assumption Catholic Church or the Van Wert Area Inpatient Hospice Center, c\/o Community Health Professionals, 1159 Westwood Drive, Van Wert, OH 45891.<\/p>\n<p>Messages of condolence may be sent to <a href=\"http:\/\/www.alspachgearhart.com\">www.alspachgearhart.com<\/a>.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>J.
