The Wassenberg Camera Club will hold its regularly scheduled meeting Thursday, August 9, at 7 p.m. at the Wassenberg Art Center, 643 S. Washington St. in Van Wert. \u00a0“Outdoor Fun” will be the competition theme in prints and slides that evening and visitors are always welcome.<\/p>\n

Those of you who entered your photos in the County Fair by August 1, (all others will have to wait a year)\u00a0only have about 17 days to get them framed and ready to check in from 1-5 on Sunday, Aug. 26.\u00a0 Rule 11 about 8×10 inch frames being the largest size used\u00a0has been\u00a0covered. It is now rules 9, 12 and 13 that I would like to discuss.<\/p>\n

Rule 9 states: “Frames must be of sturdy wood or metal.\u00a0 No plastic frames.” This gives you a good base to apply Rule 12 which states: “Frames must have screw eyes screwed in with a wire attached for hanging.”\u00a0 You need to understand\u00a0 that\u00a0the pictures may be hung, removed and repositioned, removed at judging and rehung, and again removed at the end of the fair.\u00a0 That much handling requires a sturdy hanging system — thus Rule 12.<\/p>\n

Rule 13 states: “Photo must covered with glass or Plexiglas.”\u00a0 A photo that may be handled from packing to pick up 8 or more times needs to be protected from finger prints, scratches, and dents as well as coughs and sneezes.\u00a0 Rule 13 prevents that from happening.<\/p>\n

The deadline for picking up the tags for your pictures is\u00a0noon on Saturday, Aug. 25.\u00a0 The tags should be securely tied to the wire or eye on the back of the picture in such a way that the name of the entrant can not be seen before judging and revealed after judging. It is your responsibility to tie the correct tag on your picture.\u00a0 Once accepted, they must be hung as the tag indicates, so attach the tags with care.\u00a0 No picture will be\u00a0hung without a tag.<\/p>\n

More on the Photography Rules for the Fair will be included\u00a0in later articles.\u00a0 If you’re getting a little pressed for time, stop by the Fair Board Office from 9 a.m.-5 p.m. Monday thru Friday and 9 a.m.-Noon on Saturday and pick up your own copy of the rule book.
