The building that housed first Teleflex and then Kongsberg has a new owner, thanks in part to a $127,000 Revolving Loan.<\/p>\n

Jim Miller, president\/CEO of Ottoville-based Miller Precision Manufacturing Industries Inc. thanked Mayor Don Farmer and various local development officials for their help in allowing him to purchase the 130,000-square foot facility, which will help him grow his stamping and fabrication business.<\/p>\n

Miller Precision\u2019s Van Wert operation currently has 12 employees, but Miller said he also plans to move the company\u2019s St. Marys stamping and fabrication division to the Van Wert plant.<\/p>\n

Current plans include increasing employment at the plant by at least five employees within the next 24 months, but Mayor Farmer called Miller \u201cthe most ultra-conservative predictor of jobs I\u2019ve ever run into\u201d and said it appears as if that number will be significantly higher if the company\u2019s current success continues.<\/p>\n

The mayor also said Miller and his brother, Tim, could be \u201cthe poster child\u201d for entrepreneurship. \u201cI think you have to be impressed,\u201d Mayor Farmer noted. \u201cOne, with them as individuals, and, two, with them as entrepreneurs in northwest Ohio.<\/p>\n

\u201cTheir story is a story that every individual who has a dream and an aspiration to develop an idea and turn it into a business\u2026,\u201d the mayor added.<\/p>\n

In addition to thanking local officials for their help in the project, Miller also thanked his employees for their contributions to the success of the company, which was begun in 1988 as a small job shop and now provides a full-service shop that includes turning, drilling, tapping, milling, stamping, laser cutting, water-jet cutting, welding and painting operations.<\/p>\n

\u201cMy hat is off to our employees for helping make all this possible as well,\u201d he said. \u201cHaving a quality shop and quality parts going out the door allows us to grow and to do what we need to do.\u201d<\/p>\n

Jim Miller said that, even though the company\u2019s existing operations could all fit into the former Teleflex\/Kongsberg plant, he plans to maintain his Ottoville operations so that the new facility can be used for growth. Growth so far has been steady for the Van Wert operations, which began in 2008 in the building next door to the Teleflex\/Kongsberg facility with five employees. The operation now employs 12 people, according to Jim Miller.<\/p>\n

Van Wert City Council President Gary Corcoran, who is also chairman of the Revolving Loan Fund Committee, said he was pleased that a building that has been empty for several years would now be occupied. \u201cWe are really glad we can provide a facility, and that we can help fund the needed resources that they require in order to start utilizing that facility in our community,\u201d Corcoran noted.<\/p>\n

Some work is still needed on the building to make it compatible for Miller Precision\u2019s operations, Jim Miller noted, with equipment being moved into the building possibly next week. Some construction was also needed to make the interior of the building a better fit for Miller Precision\u2019s operations.<\/p>\n

The new facility will allow the company, which currently has a total of 85 employees, to streamline its operations, Jim Miller said. Customers for the firm include food equipment, lift truck, medical and automotive operations.<\/p>\n
