{"id":28487,"date":"2012-09-05T05:18:58","date_gmt":"2012-09-05T10:18:58","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/thevwindependent.com\/?p=28487"},"modified":"2012-09-08T09:48:29","modified_gmt":"2012-09-08T14:48:29","slug":"dr-tynan-will-now-see-you","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/thevwindependent.com\/news\/2012\/09\/05\/dr-tynan-will-now-see-you\/","title":{"rendered":"Dr. Tynan will now see you"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Have you ever waited to see a doctor?\u00a0 We at the Niswonger Performing Arts Center have been waiting to see Dr. Ronan Tynan for some time.\u00a0 He will be our guest speaker and artist for our Gala V celebration on September 14-15.\u00a0 Not only is this man an orthopedic doctor, but he is a world-class Irish tenor, as well as a much sought after inspirational speaker.\u00a0 He will be delivering on both accounts for you at the NPAC!<\/p>\n<p>His pursuit of a medical degree probably came from his difficulties he has had to overcome as a child and in later life.\u00a0A difficult birth left him disabled and took the life of his twin brother.\u00a0As if that wasn\u2019t enough, a car accident later caused him to have both lower legs amputated.\u00a0 His courage and determination soon had him competing in the Paralympics, where he earned 18 gold medals in track and field and set 14 world records!\u00a0 He then turned to the medical field and became the first disabled person ever admitted to the National College of Physical Education.\u00a0 He later became a full-fledged doctor, specializing in orthopedic sports injuries with a degree from prestigious Trinity College.<\/p>\n<figure id=\"attachment_26837\" aria-describedby=\"caption-attachment-26837\" style=\"width: 297px\" class=\"wp-caption alignright\"><a href=\"https:\/\/thevwindependent.com\/news\/wp-content\/uploads\/2012\/07\/Ronan-Tynan-7-2012.jpg\"><img fetchpriority=\"high\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"size-full wp-image-26837  \" style=\"border: 1px solid black\" src=\"https:\/\/thevwindependent.com\/news\/wp-content\/uploads\/2012\/07\/Ronan-Tynan-7-2012.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"297\" height=\"313\" \/><\/a><figcaption id=\"caption-attachment-26837\" class=\"wp-caption-text\">Ronan Tynan<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<p>With all these amazing accomplishments, it is probably his incredible singing voice that has gained him such international notoriety.\u00a0Once again, courage and determination led him to take on another challenge.\u00a0Although he enjoyed singing as a boy, he did not seriously consider formal voice study until the age of 33, when he was well into his residency as a physician.\u00a0 After being turned down by numerous prestigious music schools, his determination would not allow him to give up.\u00a0 He credits his mother for instilling the drive to \u201cfollow your dreams!\u201d\u00a0 Persistence finally landed him a vocal teacher and soon he was winning talent awards throughout Europe and on the British Broadcasting Corporation\u2019s biggest talent show \u201cGo for It!\u201d<\/p>\n<p>In 1998, Tynan joined Anthony Kearns and John McDermott (later Finbar Wright) as The Irish Tenors, an instant worldwide success.\u00a0His infectious personality made him an audience favorite while on stage with the Irish Tenors. \u00a0One thing led to another and he soon became a hit in America.\u00a0 As this big Irishman tells audiences, \u201cAmerica is powerful and intense, and it begs you to take it on.\u201d\u00a0 The Dublin, Ireland, native now says America is his home away from home.\u00a0 He loves America and all the opportunities it offers to those with determination and drive.<\/p>\n<p>He became a huge hit, singing \u201cGod Bless America\u201d at New York Yankee baseball games during the seventh inning stretch.\u00a0 He also was asked to sing at President Reagan\u2019s funeral by Mrs. Reagan, also sang for the inauguration of President George W. Bush and answered the call to the 9\/11 workers at Ground Zero, singing \u201cDanny Boy.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>His autobiography <em>Halfway Home<\/em> can be found at the Brumback Library here in Van Wert.\u00a0 It is an interesting read and allows you to enter the life of an incredible individual who, by the way, loves to also race horses and motorcycles!<\/p>\n<p>I think you can see why major international corporations and organizations seek him as a motivational speaker.\u00a0 His inherent belief instilled in him by his parents to follow your dreams, has made him a person to listen to and be inspired by.\u00a0 When concertizing, as he will on Saturday, September 15 with the Lima Symphony Orchestra, he sings two songs about his mother and father that are touching tributes.
