{"id":28490,"date":"2012-09-05T06:10:09","date_gmt":"2012-09-05T11:10:09","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/thevwindependent.com\/?p=28490"},"modified":"2012-09-05T06:10:09","modified_gmt":"2012-09-05T11:10:09","slug":"vw-man-gets-prison-on-drug-charge","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/thevwindependent.com\/news\/2012\/09\/05\/vw-man-gets-prison-on-drug-charge\/","title":{"rendered":"VW man gets prison on drug charge"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><strong>DAVE MOSIER\/<\/strong><em>independent editor<\/em><\/p>\n<p>Three drug-related cases were heard in Van Wert County Common Pleas Court on Tuesday, with a Van Wert man being sentenced to prison on drug trafficking charges.<\/p>\n<p>Kasey Schisler, 24, was sentenced to nine months in prison, with credit for 50 days already served, after being guilty of complicity to trafficking in heroin, a fourth-degree felony offense.<\/p>\n<p>Schisler was convicted of the charge during a jury trial held June 26 and 27. He was also ordered to pay court costs in the case.<\/p>\n<p>Shane Seekings, 27, of Van Wert also appeared in court on two cases. The first case was a pending case that included two counts of trafficking in drugs, both fourth-degree felonies, related to an incident that occurred January 26. The first count was amended to a felony of the fifth degree and Seekings pleaded guilty to that charge. The second trafficking charge was dismissed as part of the plea negotiation that resulted in the guilty plea on the first count.<\/p>\n<p>Seekings also appeared on a prosecutor\u2019s bill of information charging him with a new charge of trafficking in drugs, a fifth-degree felony, for an incident that occurred January 18. He also pleaded guilty to that charge.<\/p>\n<p>Judge Charles D. Steele ordered a presentence hearing in connection with the case and scheduled sentencing for 9 a.m. Wednesday, October 16.<\/p>\n<p>Also on Tuesday, Michael Hipsley, 27, of Van Wert, changed his plea from not guilty to guilty on a charge of possession of drugs, a felony of the fifth degree. He then requested, and was granted, treatment in lieu of conviction.
