On a night where neither team put its best foot forward, the Cougars hung on to a slim two-stroke lead to maintain an undefeated record in the Western Buckeye League.<\/p>\n

Junior Lucas Etzler saved the day tying for medalist at three-over-par 39, despite playing out of the sixth man spot.<\/p>\n

\u201cLucas had been struggling as of late and was moved from fourth man to sixth man,\u201d Van Wert Coach Jeff Hood noted, adding, \u201cHe really responded with a great round when we needed it most.”<\/p>\n

The match was square after the first two golfers came in, while the third and fourth players provided the Cougs with a slim two-stroke lead. Celina\u2019s fifth man, Kaleb Kuhn, came in with a 39 of his own to put the Cougs down four strokes, then Etzler rolled in a bogey putt on No. 9 to secure a 39, giving the Van Wert team the win.<\/p>\n

The Cougars remain alone at the top of the WBL at 6-0 and return to action at home Monday afternoon against Defiance.<\/p>\n
