Helstad, 45, of Wimberley, Texas, and formerly of Van Wert, died at 5:12 p.m. Friday, September 7, 2012, at St. Rita\u2019s Medical Center in Lima.<\/p>\n<p>He was born March 10, 1967, in Newark, the son of Maxine (Wallace) Helstad, who survives in Van Wert, and Rodney R. Helstad Jr., who survives in New Jersey.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/www.thevwindependent.com\/news\/wp-content\/uploads\/2011\/06\/American-Flag-for-obituaries-6-2011.jpg\"><img decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignleft size-full wp-image-8711\" style=\"border: 1px solid black\" src=\"https:\/\/www.thevwindependent.com\/news\/wp-content\/uploads\/2011\/06\/American-Flag-for-obituaries-6-2011.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"125\" height=\"66\" \/><\/a>Other survivors include a brother, Rodney R. (Katie) Helstad Jr. of Spencerville; one brother-in-law, Jeff Weaver of Bristol, Tenn.; and several nieces and nephews.<\/p>\n<p>A sister, Dawn Elaine Weaver, preceded him in death.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Friends and family will conduct a celebration of Mr. Helstad\u2019s life from 4-6 p.m. Friday, October 5, at the YWCA of Van Wert County.<\/strong><\/p>\n<p><strong>There will be no visitation.<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Preferred memorials: To the family.<\/p>\n<p>Arrangements were handled by Alspach-Gearhart Funeral Home &amp; Crematory in Van Wert.<\/p>\n<p>Messages of condolence may be sent to <a href=\"http:\/\/www.alspachgearhart.com\">www.alspachgearhart.com<\/a>.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Robert K.
