Sponsored by The Van Wert County Foundation in cooperation with the First U.M. Church, a performance of Handel\u2019s <em>Messiah<\/em> has been held bi-annually since 1992. Previous performances date back to before World War II.<\/p>\n<figure id=\"attachment_30481\" aria-describedby=\"caption-attachment-30481\" style=\"width: 330px\" class=\"wp-caption alignright\"><a href=\"https:\/\/thevwindependent.com\/news\/wp-content\/uploads\/2012\/10\/Messiah-practice-promo-pic-2010.jpg\"><img fetchpriority=\"high\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"size-full wp-image-30481 \" style=\"border: 1px solid black\" src=\"https:\/\/thevwindependent.com\/news\/wp-content\/uploads\/2012\/10\/Messiah-practice-promo-pic-2010.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"330\" height=\"300\" \/><\/a><figcaption id=\"caption-attachment-30481\" class=\"wp-caption-text\">The chorus and orchestra perform &quot;Messiah&quot; back in 2010. (VW independent file photo)<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<p>Paul Hoverman, senior choir director at First Church and coordinator of performing arts for the county foundation, is inviting interested singers to join the chorus.\u00a0 Rehearsals will be Sundays, November 4, 18, 25, and December 2, from 3-5 p.m. and Saturday, December 8, from 10-11:30 a.m., all at First U.M. Church.<\/p>\n<p>Chorus books are provided for those who do not own their own copy. It is not an auditioned chorus, but is open to those singers who are high school age and up and can commit to attend most of the rehearsals.<\/p>\n<p>Soloists for this year\u2019s <em>Messiah<\/em> are soprano Charlotte Detrick of New York City, alto Julie Fischer Szabo of Bluffton, tenor Jake Wilder of Van Wert and bass Timothy Bruno of Cincinnati.
