Van Wert independent sports<\/em><\/p>\n

The Van Wert High School boys and girls swimming and diving teams opened their season hosting Celina High School to compete in a dual meet. The boys were victorious over the Bulldogs with a 103-77 win, while the girls lost 43-139.<\/p>\n

Van Wert swimmers placing first in individual events included Jacob Scheidt, 200-meter freestyle; Eric Easley, 200 IM and 100-meter breaststroke; Adam Jurczyk, 50-meter and 100-meter freestyle; Dan Silette, 100-meter backstroke;<\/p>\n

The boys\u2019 200-meter medley relay (Silette, Easley, Kase Schalois, and Jurczyk) and 400-meter freestyle relay (Schalois, Silette, Jurczyk and Easley) also finished in first place.<\/p>\n

The Cougar swimmers return to action this Saturday morning when they host the Van Wert Relay Invitational.<\/p>\n
