The Van Wert Parks and Recreation Department concluded another successful men\u2019s basketball season with a post-season tournament.<\/p>\n

All seven teams that participated in league play competed in the tournament. In the first round of games Team Jordon defeated Team Bob Knight, 72-67, in triple overtime. Vorst\u00a0Paving advanced by eliminating Hatfield\u2019s, 58-48, while Don\u2019s Custom Exhaust was then pounded by Leland Smith Insurance, 111-45.<\/p>\n

On the final night of tournament play, the regular season champions, Dick’s Team, defeated Team Jordan 81-58 in the first semifinal game, and Leland Smith squeaked by Vorst Paving 60-55.<\/p>\n

After a short break, Dick\u2019s Team and Leland Smith competed for the title. The game was close throughout, with leads changing numerous times. At the final buzzer, Dick\u2019s Team found themselves on top by the score of 59-51.<\/p>\n

Dick\u2019s was led by Kevin Longstreth’s 15 points, followed by Brett Hammons, with 14 points, and Andy Breese who scored 11. Leland Smith\u2019s top gun was Luke Lichtensteiger, with 21 points, followed by John VanCleave, with 10. Leland Smith Insurance was also the regular season league runner-up.<\/p>\n
