Conrad, 73, of Van Wert, died at 3:10 p.m. Wednesday, January 2, 2013, at the Veterans Administration Medical Center in Fort Wayne, Ind.<\/p>\n<p>He was born May 28, 1939, in Fort Wayne, the son of the late Clayton and Alice (Parr) Conrad. He married Sandra (Fowler) Conrad, who survives in Van Wert.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/thevwindependent.com\/news\/wp-content\/uploads\/2011\/06\/American-Flag-for-obituaries-6-2011.jpg\"><img decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignleft size-full wp-image-8711\" style=\"border: 1px solid black\" src=\"https:\/\/thevwindependent.com\/news\/wp-content\/uploads\/2011\/06\/American-Flag-for-obituaries-6-2011.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"125\" height=\"66\" \/><\/a>Other survivors include three children, Todd Conrad of North Carolina, Rick Conrad of Florida and Theresa Hunter of Florida; A brother, Mike Conrad of Columbia City, Ind.; nine grandchildren; and one great-grandchild.<\/p>\n<p>A brother and one sister also preceded him in death.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Funeral services will be conducted at 11 a.m. Saturday, January 12, at First United Methodist Church in Van Wert, with the Rev. Gus Christo-Baker officiating.<\/strong><\/p>\n<p><strong>Calling hours are an hour prior to services Saturday at the church.<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Preferred memorial: Donor\u2019s choice.<\/p>\n<p>Arrangements were handled by Alspach-Gearhart Funeral Home &amp; Crematory in Van Wert.<\/p>\n<p>Online condolences may be left at <a href=\"http:\/\/www.alspachgearhart.com\">www.alspachgearhart.com<\/a>.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Robert A.
