{"id":33528,"date":"2013-01-10T06:33:39","date_gmt":"2013-01-10T11:33:39","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/thevwindependent.com\/?p=33528"},"modified":"2013-01-10T06:33:39","modified_gmt":"2013-01-10T11:33:39","slug":"gasoline-prices-could-beat-jan-trend","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/thevwindependent.com\/news\/2013\/01\/10\/gasoline-prices-could-beat-jan-trend\/","title":{"rendered":"Gasoline prices could beat Jan. trend"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><em>Information submitted<\/em><\/p>\n<p>CHICAGO &#8212; For six of the last seven years U.S. retail gasoline prices have risen from Christmas Day to mid-January but this year could run counter to that trend.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThat\u2019s because of the massive buildup in gasoline inventory just announced by the U.S. Dept. of Energy\u2019s weekly petroleum report,\u201d said Patrick DeHaan, senior petroleum analyst for GasBuddy.com. \u201cWith an increase over the previous month of 16.1 million barrels (+7 percent), gasoline inventory now exceeds the highest level reached during 2012 and is at the highest point recorded since February 2011.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cGasoline inventories ended the year with the highest December level ever, and obviously we\u2019ve added significantly to that, so for that reason we could see many markets remain flat or even decline slightly over the next week to two weeks,\u201d DeHaan added. \u201cYou could say it\u2019s the calm before the storm that arrives every spring.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cHaving said that, we are confident that our overall forecast for 2013 &#8212; and specifically for January &#8212; will prove accurate, with the U.S. national average projected to be in a range from $3.21 to $3.43, with a median price at $3.29 per gallon,\u201d he noted.<\/p>\n<p>Earlier this week GasBuddy released its \u201cGasBuddy Fuel Price Outlook 2013\u201d (<a href=\"http:\/\/www.scribd.com\/doc\/119477611\/2013-Forecast\">http:\/\/www.scribd.com\/doc\/119477611\/2013-Forecast<\/a>).<\/p>\n<p>GasBuddy operates over 250 similar websites that track gasoline prices at over 140,000 gasoline stations in the United States and Canada.
