{"id":33563,"date":"2013-01-11T06:00:58","date_gmt":"2013-01-11T11:00:58","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/thevwindependent.com\/?p=33563"},"modified":"2013-01-11T06:00:58","modified_gmt":"2013-01-11T11:00:58","slug":"knights-edge-lancers-in-girls-b-ball","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/thevwindependent.com\/news\/2013\/01\/11\/knights-edge-lancers-in-girls-b-ball\/","title":{"rendered":"Knights edge Lancers in girls&#8217; b-ball"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><em>Van Wert independent sports<\/em><\/p>\n<p>As expected, the Lincolnview-Crestview girls\u2019 basketball matchup went down to the wire, with the Lady Knights pulling it out with less than a second to play when freshman Emily Bauer put in a layup for a 42-41 Northwest Conference victory.<\/p>\n<p>It was another heartbreaker for the Lady Lancers, who have played superb basketball this year, but have come out on the losing end of several close contests.<\/p>\n<p>Lincolnview take what it hoped was a final lead when Katie Dye drove the lane for a layup with seconds left and a 41-40 Lancer lead. But Mackenzie Riggenbach found Bauer open under the basket and the freshman laid one in for the win.<\/p>\n<p>Riggenbach led the Knights with 14 points, while Bauer added 10 points for Crestview. Dye was Lincolnview\u2019s offensive leader with 14 points, while Kaitlyn Brant added 10 for the Lancers.<\/p>\n<p>Lincolnview led by five points, 14-9, after a quarter of play, but the Knights chipped away at that lead and trailed by three, 22-19, at the half. Crestview had a one-point lead, 31-30, at the three-quarter mark after outscoring the Lancers 12-8 in that quarter, and both teams put in 11 points in the final stanza.<\/p>\n<p>The Knights were 17 of 33 from field goal range (51.5 percent), including a 4-for-8 performance from beyond the arc. Crestview was less successful at the free-throw line, hitting only 4 of 10 tries there (40 percent). The Lancers made 13 of 28 field goal attempts (46.4 percent) and were 2 of 7 from three-point range (28.6 percent). Lincolnview canned 13 of 20 free throw attempts (65 percent).<\/p>\n<p>The Lancers led in rebounding with 19 to 13 for Crestview &#8212; including 8 offense boards to 4 for the Knights &#8212; while Lincolnview had more turnover, 15-14. The Knights had 8 steals to 6 for Lincolnview.<\/p>\n<p>The win gives Crestview a 11-1 record overall and the Knights are 4-0 in the NWC.
