{"id":33606,"date":"2013-01-12T07:39:58","date_gmt":"2013-01-12T12:39:58","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/thevwindependent.com\/?p=33606"},"modified":"2013-01-12T07:39:58","modified_gmt":"2013-01-12T12:39:58","slug":"celina-man-sentenced-for-wc-fraud","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/thevwindependent.com\/news\/2013\/01\/12\/celina-man-sentenced-for-wc-fraud\/","title":{"rendered":"Celina man sentenced for WC fraud"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><em>BWC information<\/em><\/p>\n<p>COLUMBUS &#8212; A Celina man has been sentenced for workers\u2019 compensation fraud after investigators with the Ohio Bureau of Workers\u2019 Compensation (BWC) captured undercover video contradicting his claim that he couldn\u2019t lift more than 10 pounds.\u00a0 The video of Jason Dross bench-pressing more than 500 pounds at the Celina YMCA garnered a guilty plea and he has been ordered to repay BWC more than $30,000.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cMany do have a difficult time finding employment when an injury has left them with certain physical restrictions,\u201d said BWC Administrator\/CEO Steve Buehrer. \u201cHowever, this video makes it very clear that Mr. Dross was not being truthful about his restrictions and he has now been ordered to repay the funds that he received deceptively.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Dross was receiving non-working wage loss, which is payable to injured workers who are unable to find suitable employment \u00a0 In order to qualify, the injured worker must demonstrate a good faith effort to secure employment within physical restrictions.
