To raise awareness, students were asked to dress up as babies on Tuesday. As a way to raise money for this cause, students have been purchasing purple shirts and wristbands; FCCLA will continue to sell this merchandise at the home game tomorrow night. This group also set up a faculty breakfast yesterday to show appreciation for the staff. For Valentine’s Day, they have been selling flowers to students so they can have a few of these flowers sent to their friends today during the day.

“I hope we will raise money for March of Dimes and also have a fun, extra activity for students to do for Valentine’s Day. For example, we are decorating cupcakes and passing out flowers on Thursday,” FCCLA adviser Ms. Christa Gasser said. “I hope that people know more about March of Dimes by the end of this week.”

Last weekend, Knight basketball was in action. On Friday night, the varsity and JV boys basketball team played well against Bluffton, both winning the games. On Saturday, they traveled up to Wayne Trace to play the Raiders. Both teams fell short, but played very well throughout the game. This weekend the boys will play at Columbus Grove on Friday night and home against New Knoxville on Saturday.

The girls varsity and JV teams played at home on Monday. The varsity finished with a score of 59 to 24 over the Raiders. “I think we have played really well this year, considering that everybody said we had a young team. Our goal is to get to districts so we can face Ottoville again and have a rematch of the game for district,” junior Kirstin Hicks said.

The middle school boys played in the final four of the NWC McDonald’s tournament and beat Columbus Grove with a score of 47 to 48, advancing to the next game. Both teams were back in action on Tuesday against Spencerville.

Junior-Senior English will be collecting aluminum cans for donation this Saturday from 9:00am to 1:00pm. These proceeds will be puts towards the Jon L. Amundson Memorial Scholarship fund.

“We are doing different activities that we think Mr. Amundson would approve of, because we are putting the money towards his memorial scholarship. We sold the trees in the fall, we’re recycling now, and in the spring we will be doing out door cleanup activities,” teacher Pam Brown said.

By Emily Adams The main focus of this year’s FCCLA week is to encourage students to join them in supporting March of Dimes, which is a program aimed to help premature babies.
