Washington St. in Van Wert, to see the Ohio Watercolor Society (OWS) Touring Exhibit, on display from March 6 through March 27.<\/p>\n<figure id=\"attachment_3556\" aria-describedby=\"caption-attachment-3556\" style=\"width: 300px\" class=\"wp-caption alignright\"><a href=\"https:\/\/www.thevwindependent.com\/news\/wp-content\/uploads\/2011\/02\/OWS-exhbit-painting-from-2010-promo-art-2-2011.jpg\"><img fetchpriority=\"high\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"size-full wp-image-3556 \" style=\"border: 1px solid black\" src=\"https:\/\/www.thevwindependent.com\/news\/wp-content\/uploads\/2011\/02\/OWS-exhbit-painting-from-2010-promo-art-2-2011.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"300\" height=\"214\" \/><\/a><figcaption id=\"caption-attachment-3556\" class=\"wp-caption-text\">This painting by Cynthia Allman of Medina entitled &quot;Elephant Walk&quot; was the Bronze Medal winner at the 2009 OWS Watercolor Show. (OWS photo)<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<p>Exhibit hours are 1-5 p.m. Tuesday through Sunday (closed Mondays) and admission is free.\u00a0The show is sponsored by Central Mutual Insurance and Purmort Brothers Insurance Agency.<\/p>\n<p>The exhibit features the best paintings selected from the OWS Annual Exhibit, including many award winners.\u00a0Jurors for the exhibit commented that they were impressed with the vitality, creativity and quality of the works submitted, as well as the great diversity of style, subject and approach.<\/p>\n<p>Both traditional and non-traditional watercolors are included.\u00a0 Traditional watercolors feature the traditional transparent watercolor technique in which the white of the paper is reserved for any white areas.\u00a0 Non-traditional work includes paintings done with water-based media such as acrylics, gouache, casein, and other water-soluble paints.\u00a0Works may also include collage combined with water media.<\/p>\n<p>A glossy catalog with photographs of paintings in the exhibit will be available for a moderate price during the show.<\/p>\n<p>For more information on Wassenberg Art Center exhibits and activities visit the art center website at <a href=\"http:\/\/www.vanwert.com\/wassenberg\">www.vanwert.com\/wassenberg<\/a>, call 419.238.6837, or email <a href=\"mailto:wassenberg@embarqmail.com\">wassenberg@embarqmail.com<\/a>.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Ask people \u201cwhat kind of paintings do you most enjoy?\u201d and the answer is very often \u201cwatercolor.\u201d\u00a0 Watercolor paintings are fresh, exciting, colorful, and very appealing.
