Franklin St. in Van Wert.\u00a0 Principal speaker for the evening&#8217;s agenda will be newly elected Van Wert County Sheriff Tom Riggenbach, who will be discussing his stance on Second Amendment protections for every citizen and the hotly debated topic of gun control.<\/p>\n<figure id=\"attachment_35610\" aria-describedby=\"caption-attachment-35610\" style=\"width: 200px\" class=\"wp-caption alignright\"><a href=\"https:\/\/thevwindependent.com\/news\/wp-content\/uploads\/2013\/03\/Sheriff-Tom-Riggenbach-3-3013.jpg\"><img fetchpriority=\"high\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"size-full wp-image-35610 \" style=\"border: 1px solid black\" src=\"https:\/\/thevwindependent.com\/news\/wp-content\/uploads\/2013\/03\/Sheriff-Tom-Riggenbach-3-3013.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"200\" height=\"312\" \/><\/a><figcaption id=\"caption-attachment-35610\" class=\"wp-caption-text\">Sheriff Tom Riggenbach<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<p>Sheriff Riggenbach is a 1989 graduate of Van Wert High School, attended Lima Technical College (now Rhodes State College), and graduated with an associate\u2019s degree in law enforcement technology in 1991. He also received his Ohio Peace Officer Training Academy certification.<\/p>\n<p>Sheriff Riggenbach became a member of the Van Wert County Sheriff&#8217;s Auxiliary as a special deputy before being hired full time in 1995 as a deputy sheriff.\u00a0 During his time as a deputy in the Patrol Division with the Sheriff&#8217;s Office, he was assigned to the K-9 Division, where he was a K-9 handler for seven years.\u00a0He was promoted in 1999 to the rank of sergeant, working as a shift sergeant and supervising personnel assigned to his shift.<\/p>\n<p>In 2005, Riggenbach\u00a0was promoted to chief deputy of corrections, where he oversaw the day to day operations and managed the 23 personnel of the Van Wert County Correctional Facility.\u00a0In the November 2012 general election, he was elected sheriff of Van Wert County, assuming duties on January 2 after being appointed to finish the unexpired term of former Sheriff Stan Owens.\u00a0He began his full term officially on January 7 of this year.<\/p>\n<p>The Patriots feel privileged\u00a0to welcome Sheriff Riggenbach to this meeting, and to\u00a0offer him the\u00a0public platform to share and discuss his views for protecting the rights of\u00a0every\u00a0Van Wert\u00a0County\u00a0resident.\u00a0 We encourage\u00a0all citizens interested in learning\u00a0how to continue to protect and maintain\u00a0their constitutional rights for gun ownership and use to attend\u00a0this important meeting.<\/p>\n<p>Further information on this meeting, as well as two more important March\u00a0meetings sponsored by the Patriots:\u00a0\u00a0the showing of\u00a0the movie <em>Fracknation<\/em> on March 16, and the Primary Candidates Night on March 19, may be obtained by telephoning Rev.
