{"id":37040,"date":"2013-04-09T05:54:23","date_gmt":"2013-04-09T10:54:23","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/thevwindependent.com\/?p=37040"},"modified":"2013-04-09T05:54:23","modified_gmt":"2013-04-09T10:54:23","slug":"cvb-has-summer-event-info-available","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/thevwindependent.com\/news\/2013\/04\/09\/cvb-has-summer-event-info-available\/","title":{"rendered":"CVB has summer event info available"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><em>VW Area Convention &amp; Visitors Bureau news<\/em><\/p>\n<p>With the summer travel season rapidly approaching, the Van Wert Area Convention and Visitors Bureau has several publications available in its office that will be of interest to area residents.<\/p>\n<p>The Ohio Development Services Agency, Office of Tourism Ohio, has recently published several travel related booklets.\u00a0 The local CVB office has copies of the Official State Travel Guide that contains listings of points of interest and lodging facilities across the entire state. Also available is the 2013 Ohio Spring\/Summer Calendar of Events, containing a select list of events statewide occurring through the month of August.\u00a0 Local Convention and Visitors Bureau Executive Director Larry Lee reports that 23 Van Wert County events were selected to be included in this publication.<\/p>\n<p>Lee also wants area residents to know that the local 2013 Spring\/Summer Events Calendar is now available at the CVB office.<\/p>\n<p>This brochure contains a detailed listing of all Van Wert area events happening through August 3. \u201cI think the public is will be surprised at the number of things going on locally,\u201d Lee said. \u201cThere are some 93 events during the spring and summer.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>The State Office of Tourism has also released six specialty booklets providing specific itineraries on six different topics. \u201cCulinary Retreats\u201d provides information about gourmet restaurants, fun food festivals, esteemed vineyards and cooking classes.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cOhio Sports and Recreation\u201d<strong> <\/strong>has information about outdoor adventures including bicycling, Ohio\u2019s State Parks, hiking, and skiing, birding, fishing, hunting, camping, spectator sports, golfing, and extreme sports like soaring, rock climbing, and scuba diving.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cOhio\u2019s Cities, Culture and Cuisine\u201d<strong> <\/strong>has information about Ohio\u2019s largest cities, wineries, markets, gardens, outdoor theaters, Appalachian Arts, and culinary escapes.\u00a0 Ohio\u2019s cultural landscape is anything but one-dimensional.<\/p>\n<p><strong>\u201c<\/strong>Multicultural Excursions\u201d<strong> <\/strong>contains itineraries where you can learn more about the contributions of African Americans, Asians, and Hispanics.<\/p>\n<p><strong>\u201c<\/strong>Ohio\u2019s Family Fun<strong>\u201d<\/strong> will provide you with details about Ohio\u2019s amusement parks, water parks, zoos, interactive museums, scenic railroads, and some unusual roadside oddities.<\/p>\n<p>Thinking about planning a family reunion?\u00a0 If so, <strong>\u201c<\/strong>Family<strong> <\/strong>Reunions and Gatherings<strong>\u201d<\/strong> will provide suggestions for theme parks, water parks, zoos and aquariums, camping, RVing, golf getaways, spa escapes, music festivals and hands-on history trips.<\/p>\n<p>All of this information, plus many other travel brochures, is available at the Van Wert Area Convention and Visitors Center at 136 E.
