{"id":37283,"date":"2013-04-16T05:17:30","date_gmt":"2013-04-16T10:17:30","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/thevwindependent.com\/?p=37283"},"modified":"2013-04-16T05:17:30","modified_gmt":"2013-04-16T10:17:30","slug":"lancers-down-jefferson-in-baseball","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/thevwindependent.com\/news\/2013\/04\/16\/lancers-down-jefferson-in-baseball\/","title":{"rendered":"Lancers down Jefferson in baseball"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><em>Lincolnview baseball news<\/em><\/p>\n<p>The Lincolnview Lancer baseball team got out to a good start, scoring three runs in the first inning en route to a 7-2 Northwest Conference win over Delphos Jefferson.<\/p>\n<p>Eli Farmer pitched well, giving up just two runs in seven innings.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cEli Farmer has had two outstanding outings his last two times out,\u201d Lincolnview Coach Kevin Longstreth noted. \u201cHe pitched well enough to win his first start of the season, also. The defense really backed him well today and did not give up any extra outs.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>The Lancers scored three runs in their portion of the first inning and added a run in the fourth inning, two in the fifth and another run in the sixth. They led 4-0 through four innings before the Wildcats scored in the fifth inning.<\/p>\n<p>Offensively, Matt Oechsle went 2 for 4, with a run scored and an RBI, while Tyler Richey was also 2 for 4, with two runs scored and Nick Leeth and Kyle Williams each had an RBI in the game.<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;We really had some good at bats tonight and started to work on hitting the ball up the middle and the other way,\u201d Coach Longstreth added. \u201cThis is the team we have been\u00a0striving to be and, hopefully, they all take note that if you don&#8217;t give extra outs and have a good approach at the plate they can win&#8221;<\/p>\n<p>The next game for the Lancers will be at home this Wednesday against St. Henry.
