{"id":37456,"date":"2013-04-18T05:55:05","date_gmt":"2013-04-18T10:55:05","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/thevwindependent.com\/?p=37456"},"modified":"2013-04-18T05:55:05","modified_gmt":"2013-04-18T10:55:05","slug":"vwms-receives-state-national-honors","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/thevwindependent.com\/news\/2013\/04\/18\/vwms-receives-state-national-honors\/","title":{"rendered":"VWMS receives state, national honors"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><em>Van Wert Middle School news<\/em><\/p>\n<p>The Ohio Department of Education has announced the middle schools being recognized by the Ohio Schools to Watch (OSTW) \u201cReaching for the Stars\u201d and the \u201cNational Schools to Watch\u201d (STW) programs.<\/p>\n<p>Van Wert Middle School was announced as one of only 20 Ohio middle schools to achieve this prestigious recognition and has earned this honor for the eighth straight year.<\/p>\n<p>The OSTW program identifies high-performing, middle grades schools that are academically excellent, developmentally responsive, and socially equitable. Schools must complete an extensive application and meet Adequate Yearly Progress.\u00a0 A team of trained evaluators then visits selected schools.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cCongratulations to staff and leadership for being re-designated as both an Ohio School to Watch and National School to Watch,\u201d said Dan Stacy, a consultant for the Ohio Department of Education. \u201cThis re-designation of Van Wert Middle School recognizes the continued dedication of your staff and leadership.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Van Wert Middle School will be formally recognized at the 2013 Ohio Middle School Association Annual State Conference, The Ohio State Board of Education May board meeting, and The National Forum to Accelerate Middle-Grades Reform at the National Schools to Watch Conference in Washington, D.C.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Van Wert Middle School news The Ohio Department of Education has announced the middle schools being recognized by the Ohio Schools to Watch (OSTW) \u201cReaching for the Stars\u201d and the \u201cNational Schools to Watch\u201d (STW) programs.
