Van Wert CVB news<\/em><\/p>\n

In recognition of the 100th birthday of the historic Lincoln Highway, a commemorative booklet is being prepared by a committee of local volunteers. The booklet will contain many photographs and a driving guide to the highway across Van Wert County.<\/p>\n

\"\"<\/a>The response to an earlier request for old photographs to include in the booklet has been terrific and a big thanks goes out to everyone who loaned pictures. There are, however, three old businesses that the committee would still like to get pictures of: Van-Del Truck Stop between Van Wert and Delphos; the house on North Wayne Street in Van Wert that had huge lollipops displayed in front; and the old Lincolnway Restaurant that stood on West Main Street, where Spoor Contracting is located today.<\/p>\n

Those who have any of these photos and are willing to loan them to the committee are asked to drop them off at the office of the Van Wert Area Convention and Visitors Bureau, 135 E. Main St.<\/p>\n

The committee has also organized a bus trip along the historic highway from Convoy to Upper Sandusky for Saturday, June 29. An evening meal is planned at the Steer Barn in Upper Sandusky. The cost of the trip is $25 per person, which does not include the meal.<\/p>\n
