The 5K Run\/Walk will be held Saturday, June 8, at the YMCA\u2019s Camp Clay, 9196 Liberty Union Road west of Van Wert.\u00a0 The run\/walk will begin its 3.1-mile loop at 11 a.m.<\/p>\n<p>Pre-registration is due by Wednesday, May 29, and is $20 with a t-shirt and $15 without a shirt. Race day registration will be available for $20 without a t-shirt. Along with this event, the YMCA will have a Kids\u2019 1-mile fun run, beginning at 10:45 a.m. and sponsored by Thrivent Financial for Lutherans.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThe 5K will be held after the fishing derby held at Camp Clay which makes these two events a little more cohesive and family friendly,\u201d said YMCA Wellness Director Julie Schaufelberger. \u201cWe encourage families to participate in the 5K, pack a picnic lunch and enjoy a reduced admission to the Camp Clay Aqua Park.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Admission for 5K participants and their families will be $3 deep water pass and $1 beach\/shallow water pass.<\/p>\n<p>The event will offer water and music along the course, as well as $100 in cash prizes to the top male and female winners and age bracket prizes. The Kids\u2019 1-Mile Fun Run will be free for all ages and participants will be awarded a ribbon for participation. If youngsters prefer to run in the 5K, the regular registration will be required.<\/p>\n<p>The YMCA offers a 5K challenge to all corporations who can register a team of five co-workers to run in the corporate division. This division offers cash prize money to the top team with the lowest combined time.
