{"id":37942,"date":"2013-05-01T06:19:18","date_gmt":"2013-05-01T11:19:18","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/thevwindependent.com\/?p=37942"},"modified":"2013-05-01T06:19:18","modified_gmt":"2013-05-01T11:19:18","slug":"vw-boys-girls-win-county-track-meet","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/thevwindependent.com\/news\/2013\/05\/01\/vw-boys-girls-win-county-track-meet\/","title":{"rendered":"VW boys, girls win county track meet"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><em>Van Wert independent sports<\/em><\/p>\n<p>The Van Wert boys\u2019 and girls\u2019 track and field teams both won championship titles during Tuesday\u2019s county track and field championships held at Van Wert High School.<\/p>\n<p>The Cougar boys had 78 points, to 56 points for Crestview and 41 for Lincolnview, while the Van Wert girls\u2019 team had 98 points, to 42 for Lincolnview and 34 for Crestview.<\/p>\n<p>Amanda Clay and Jared Fleming were the big guns for Van Wert, with Clay winning four events and Fleming two individual and two relay events. Clay won the 100-, 200- and 400-meter dashes and the long jump, while Fleming was first in the 800- and 1600-meter runs, tying his own county records in the process, and was also a member of the winning 4&#215;800 and 4&#215;400-meter relay teams.<\/p>\n<p>Other county record-setting or tying performances included Cougar Seth Kopp\u2019s time of 51.4 seconds in the 400-meter dash, while Van Wert\u2019s 4&#215;200-meter relay team (Kopp, Nick Krugh, Kevon Pierce and Chris Miller) also set a new county record of 1:32.7. The Cougar boys\u2019 4&#215;100-meter relay team (Miller, Caleb Lloyd, Terrence Branson and Krugh) also set a county record in a time of 44.6 seconds.<\/p>\n<p>Van Wert\u2019s 4&#215;100-meter relay team of Alexis Dowdy, Cheyenne Handy, Marissa Sperry and Whitney Meyers set a new county record of 1:55 (<strong><a href=\"https:\/\/thevwindependent.com\/news\/wp-content\/uploads\/2013\/05\/2013-Van-Wert-County-Meet-Results.pdf\" target=\"_blank\">click here<\/a><\/strong> for all results from the county meet).<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Van Wert independent sports The Van Wert boys\u2019 and girls\u2019 track and field teams both won championship titles during Tuesday\u2019s county track and field championships held at Van Wert High School.
