{"id":38392,"date":"2013-05-09T06:28:28","date_gmt":"2013-05-09T11:28:28","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/thevwindependent.com\/?p=38392"},"modified":"2013-05-09T06:28:28","modified_gmt":"2013-05-09T11:28:28","slug":"council-on-aging-offers-legal-services","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/thevwindependent.com\/news\/2013\/05\/09\/council-on-aging-offers-legal-services\/","title":{"rendered":"Council on Aging offers legal services"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><em>Council on Aging news<\/em><\/p>\n<p>Through a partnership with Legal Aid of Western Ohio, the Van Wert County Council on Aging will be offering free legal aid services.\u00a0 While the service is available to anyone, emphasis will be placed on the senior population.<\/p>\n<p>Rebecca Steinhouse will serve as Legal Aid\u2019s local liaison for the Van Wert Council on Aging.\u00a0 Steinhouse has worked for Legal Aid of Western Ohio for over 16 years and specializes in \u201celder law\u201d.\u00a0 However, Steinhouse and Legal Aid of Western Ohio can also offer legal expertise in the many other areas, such as family law, domestic violence, consumer law, and public benefits.<\/p>\n<p>The services will be offered quarterly and appointments are very limited.\u00a0While anyone age 60 and older is eligible for these services at no cost, those under 60 must be low-income eligible individuals.<\/p>\n<p>For those interested, the first session will be June 28.\u00a0 To make an appointment or obtain further information on Legal Aid of Western Ohio, contact the Council on Aging at 419.238.5011.<\/p>\n<p>The Council on Aging is an advocate for independent living in later years and is partially funded by United Way of Van Wert County and the Van Wert County Foundation.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Council on Aging news Through a partnership with Legal Aid of Western Ohio, the Van Wert County Council on Aging will be offering free legal aid services.\u00a0 While the service is available to anyone, emphasis will be placed on the senior population.
