{"id":38430,"date":"2013-05-10T05:55:38","date_gmt":"2013-05-10T10:55:38","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/thevwindependent.com\/?p=38430"},"modified":"2013-05-10T05:55:38","modified_gmt":"2013-05-10T10:55:38","slug":"coa-to-host-welcome-to-medicare-event","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/thevwindependent.com\/news\/2013\/05\/10\/coa-to-host-welcome-to-medicare-event\/","title":{"rendered":"CoA to host &#8216;Welcome to Medicare&#8217; event"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><em>Information submitted<\/em><\/p>\n<p>COLUMBUS \u2013 Lieutenant Governor and Ohio Department of Insurance Director Mary Taylor announced the Ohio Senior Health Insurance Information Program (OSHIIP) will hold a \u201cWelcome to Medicare\u201d event in Van Wert County on Thursday, May 16, at 6 p.m. at the Van Wert County on Aging, 220 Fox Road in Van Wert.<\/p>\n<p>OSHIIP, the state\u2019s official source for free and unbiased Medicare information and counseling, is visiting 17 counties through May.\u00a0 The events will help new and soon-to-be beneficiaries understand the basics of Medicare.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cOur events can help Ohioans transitioning into Medicare better understand how the program works,\u201d Taylor said.\u00a0 \u201cIn 2012 we saved consumers $5.5 million by helping them identify the coverage best suited for their needs.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>At the events, people can learn about the important deadlines and benefits Medicare provides, Medicare Advantage plans, supplemental health insurance, and prescription drug coverage. \u00a0There will also be information regarding financial assistance programs that help pay for Medicare\u2019s Part B premium and out-of-pocket expenses associated with prescription drug costs.<\/p>\n<p>For a complete list of events and information about Medicare, call OSHIIP at 800.686.1578 and visit <a href=\"http:\/\/www.insurance.ohio.gov\/\">www.insurance.ohio.gov<\/a>.
