{"id":38509,"date":"2013-05-13T05:21:02","date_gmt":"2013-05-13T10:21:02","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/thevwindependent.com\/?p=38509"},"modified":"2013-05-13T05:21:02","modified_gmt":"2013-05-13T10:21:02","slug":"state-promotes-motorcycle-safety","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/thevwindependent.com\/news\/2013\/05\/13\/state-promotes-motorcycle-safety\/","title":{"rendered":"State promotes motorcycle safety"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><em>Ohio Dept. of Public Safety news<\/em><\/p>\n<p>COLUMBUS &#8212; Together with state leaders, traffic safety partners, law enforcement, motorcycle advocates and enthusiasts, the Ohio Department of Public Safety (ODPS) kicked off its Ride SMART motorcycle safety campaign late last week, which is aimed at reducing motorcycle deaths and injuries.<\/p>\n<p>Motorcycle Ohio (MO), part of ODPS\u2019 Office of Criminal Justice Services (OCJS), led the Ride SMART campaign in 2009 to raise awareness for motorcycle safety.\u00a0The Ride SMART<strong><em> <\/em><\/strong>motorcycle safety campaign will work to address all aspects of motorcycle safety, including: Ride <strong>S<\/strong>ober. Ride <strong>M<\/strong>otorcycle Endorsed. Ride <strong>A<\/strong>lert. Use the <strong>R<\/strong>ight Gear. Ride <strong>T<\/strong>rained. Ride <strong>SMART<em>.<\/em><\/strong><\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/thevwindependent.com\/news\/wp-content\/uploads\/2013\/05\/Ride-SMART-logo-5-2013.jpg\"><img decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignright size-full wp-image-38510\" src=\"https:\/\/thevwindependent.com\/news\/wp-content\/uploads\/2013\/05\/Ride-SMART-logo-5-2013.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"300\" height=\"49\" \/><\/a>\u201cIt is important that we not only continue the Ride SMART<strong><em> <\/em><\/strong>motorcycle safety campaign, but also continue working with our traffic safety partners on education, enforcement and engineering efforts to reduce motorcycle deaths and injuries,\u201d said ODPS Director Thomas P. Charles.<\/p>\n<p>Partners of the Ride SMART<strong><em> <\/em><\/strong>campaign will reach out to as many motorcyclists and motorists as possible to remind them that everyone plays a critical role in motorcycle safety. MO is working with state and local partners including ODOT, the American Motorcyclist Association, American Bikers Aimed Towards Education, Safe Communities, law enforcement and other safety partners to get the message out to riders and motorists alike.
