Carrying on with a longtime tradition, the annual 4-H Chicken Barbecue will be held at the Junior Fair Building on the fairgrounds Tuesday, June 11, serving from 3:30-7 p.m.<\/p>\n<p>Tickets are $7 for a full meal, which includes half a barbecued chicken, baked beans, applesauce, \u00a0a roll and cookie, prepared by the Chik-N House LLC. Members of all 4-H clubs in the county will be working to pack up meals, help those dining in and collect tickets in the drive-through.<\/p>\n<p>Drive-through or carryout options are available. Cars should enter the fairgrounds at Fox Road. If desired, customers can drive in and pick up food at the door without getting out of their car.<\/p>\n<p>A barbecue poster contest was held for all county 4-H clubs, with many of the posters to appear in local stores and windows. Winners include the following: Ali Gemmer of the Clever Clovers, first place; Haley Walker of the Ridge Buckeyes, second place; Katelyn Welch of the Bunny Hoppers, third place; and Makenzie Bowen of the Ohio City Blue Ribbon Workers, honorable mention.<\/p>\n<p>Winning posters are displayed at the OSU Extension office and others submitted are being hung up around town to showcase the talent of the 4-H members. Businesses wanting a poster to display are asked to contact the OSU Extension Office at 419.238.1214.<\/p>\n<p>The 4-H Chicken Barbecue, a longstanding tradition, is one of the few fundraisers put on by the Van Wert County 4-H Council.\u00a0The funds from this event are used to support 4-H endeavors such as 4-H Camp, camp scholarships, awards and to support 4-H members at the Junior Fair.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Van Wert County 4-H news It\u2019s not summer without chicken barbecued to perfection on the grill!
